You might enjoy this, it's kind of different.

    Latest post on here:

Made a video documenting all differences I could find. It's pretty much just a hard pressed store sample. :)

Cool video. I keep meaning to do such videos with many of the sample discs I own but never get around to it.

by the way "A couple years back, a unique X-men: Children of the Atom SAMPLE disc was released to the public, and it had a lot of noticeable differences." I wonder who released that ;-)

EDIT - Just noticed that on the Sample, Zabel is called Lord Raptor and Lei Lei is called Hsien-ko. Are these the original arcade names?

I wonder why the sample used different names when it's a Japanese game? Colud it be built up from the US arcade code?

Yes that is a bit odd. It's unlikely that the sample was intended for the US - does it only run on a Japanese Saturn?

Maybe Wikipedia is wrong! It could be that they were the arcade names (I do remember those names, can't remember whether it was a Japanese copy, though) and they were referring to the Japanese home release.

I can't remember what they were called in Night Warriors on the Saturn here. I'll have to dig it out.

Honestly that whole name thing with the Darkstalkers series has always confused me.

To answer your question retro, yes it only works on a Japanese saturn. I actually made this video a few months ago when I actually had a saturn. The disc is just sitting on my shelf with no way to play it now.

Yakumo! hope you didn't mind my little mention of your X-men: COTA bit. I knew someone on these forums had it but I couldn't remember your name at the time. How many more of these 'sampes' do you have?

No worries about X-Men. I own about 60 plus Saturn store or mag sample discs. You can see them all over at my site - www.segagagadomain.com Just go to the Saturn section and click on SAMPLE.
