I don't see him showing off DS flashcarts, nor do I see him talking about modding a 360, or a Wii. Older backup devices are interesting of themselves for some people, myself included, and it's not like Sega are going to see a penny if he buys a Sonic 2 cart off ebay. Also, you're presupposing that he's not got games elsewhere (there are plenty of hardware-centric collections here either way), and that he's a pirate in general, which is kind of unfair. You probably weren't being particularly serious anyway, but hey, I'm feeling pedantic.
LOL, it was a joke. Were I serious, I would have bitched him out ;-) Well, he stated that he JUST collected the hardware, if you check - so no, I'm not assuming anything! ;-) Of course, someone with such a username probably is more interested in old gear. However, if he has a DS, I'd bet he had an R4 ;-) For development purposes, of course lol.
Oddly enough I was having a pint with my phd supervisor last night, and heard that he'd bought M3 cards for his kids for Christmas. He was unaware, genuinely I think, that ROM sites didn't have some kind of agreement with the publishers - especially the ones that charged for faster download services. If they're charging for it they must be paying the relevant companies, right? He's an extremely intelligent man, and not given to pretence, so I'm fairly sure he was just unaware of the legality of it. The discussion turned to how he has been routinely screwed by the BPI, which lead into an interesting debate on the nature of copyright, of which he's not a great fan, but it was kind of odd to hear how disconnected an otherwise extremely sharp individual can be from the realities of digital distribution and the nature of online sales.
@retro: i am a hardware collector ONLY ! i do not collect games AT ALL ! @ed: i was trying to say the condition of the unit made the conclusion it is new and not it is refurbished or cleaned up
Eh? I wasn't trying to make a point, just chatting. Please don't take it as any kind of commentary on your collection.
And that's EXACTLY what I said in my posts! Please learn to take a joke. Were I to seriously consider you a pirate, I would have expressed my dislike of such activities. As I ALREADY said, I think it is an impressive collection - that's what "nice stuff" means. If you're going to collect so-called "backup" units, get used to being tarnished with that brush. I am doing so in jest, but others may not be doing so in such a friendly manner. Lighten up! Whilst we all appreciate the efforts people such as you go to in collecting these units, and their scarcity (due to the fact that they were banned pirating devices), you should also appreciate something - if you post on a forum of video game collectors, who value their games, you will find some people who don't take kindly to people saying "hey all I collect is backup units - I don't buy games". That SOUNDS like the talk of a pirate. I appreciate you aren't one, and I'm not suggesting otherwise - but if you don't want to be tarnished with that brush, be careful how you word this in future.
exactly .. carefullness with words , as i am not an englishman i dont get your joke simply coz my english seems? to be too bad?
You need to be a lot less uptight about comments on a videogame forum, seriously. Why the fuck would you delete all the photos of your great collection? It's a shame, I really liked looking through them and trying to spot the items I knew. You have a lot of interesting stuff.
Actually, I was going to say I think perhaps as you don't speak English natively you missed the joke. Then I realized... your English is excellent! I think maybe more a humour-style mismatch than language ;-) Nah, don't take down your pictures - although I would say don't use Imageshack. They've gone really crappy of late. Much better, get an account on Photobucket or Flickr - then you still have control of your images and they are shareable in an easy manner - just link to your album ;-) You'll find several people on the forum have very impressive collections of pirac.... umm, "backup" units! ;-) No, we won't jump in with that - perhaps you removed the pics because of a big bag of marijuana in the background, though? ;-) JOKE! To appease you, I changed the image to something you can't find offensive, by the way
hast ja tolle sachen ich glaub ich zieh bei dir ein xD ~~~~ you have nice stuff I think I should move in your flat/house xD
