I stumbled upon this Chinese site tonight that has some very nice Japanese Mega Drive cover scans that I'm sure many of us would enjoy to see such as the Rolling Thunder one below.

The sites URL is http://www.tgfcer.com/shop/MD/md_index.htm Just click on the title image to see the full scan.

Nice one. The japanese artwork is so much better than the uk stuff:). I'll try and find and add a UK scan (or just do it myself) and we can all laugh at how badly it sucks.

I guess some games must have sold well otherwise the machine would have died long before it did. Maybe Bare Knuckle sold well since it had two follow ups.

Sure thing. The first games were out in 1988, the last in 1996! Only 430 or so though, not including mcd or 32x, so hardly the most prolific release schedule.

I think fifa and champions world soccer sold well too. They're devils to find now but super cheap when you do.

    Sonic of course:)

And perhaps some of the earlier titles like ghouls n ghosts? Some of the rpgs like Phantasy Star? Gunstar Heroes surely?

Man, good question:). I'm going to try and find some stats or something (and if anyone knows of any sites re this please post up!)

Yes, Treasure has reported that GH sales were pretty good in Japan.
I would think that many of the arcade to MD ports that Sega made sold fairly well. Daimakaimura, Strider, Golden Axe, Altered Beast etc.

Nevertheless, it's a wonderful system with loads of great, hidden and forgotten games.
