Does anyone know where I could get a little tiny monitor for my computer? Over the summer, I'll be bringing home my 32" LCD, so that's probably what I'll use most of the time. However, I don't have space for an extra monitor and it would be nice to have a little tiny monitor sitting underneath the desk that I could use just to navigate through the OS when I need to. I'm talking about like 5" diagonal or smaller. It would be good if it displayed at least 640x480 resolution, as well. I don't want to spend too much money, though. I've found a few, but they're generally bigger than I need them to be, and way too expensive. Any idea where I could find a very small, cheap one? Or perhaps it'd be cheaper just to get a full sized monitor and hang it on my wall or something?
I can get hold of these: http://cgi.ebay.de/4-Zoll-TFT-Monitor-12V-KFZ-Adapter-fuer-PS2-Slim-NEU-OVP_W0QQitemZ400070581888QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPC_Viedeospielzubeh%C3%B6r?hash=item5d26109e80 18 euro 4 inches, resolution: 380x234
I personally have a Mimo iMo 7" USB LCD (Yes it does connect via USB) and I love it. Its great, I love tossing things that I need access to but are not immediate concerns (ticket watch, IRC, music). It only does 800x480, but thats good enough for most things I put on it. The only problem I have with it is that because it needs the OS to load the driver before it will work, its not usable at boot time. If you want the one I have its at http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/usb-gadgets/bfa3/ Thinkgeek also has a $99 version made by Lilliput, but its basically the samething (Both LCDs run via DisplayLink) here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/usb-gadgets/c609/
That would be perfect except that I don't think my computer will display 380x234, unfortunately. Plus, I think that probably only takes composite input. Phate: That one's pretty cool, but it's a little too expensive, and I don't think it'll work with Ubuntu, which is one of the things I want to use it for.
Or how about the PSone screen? Modders choice. Set the resolution with Powerstrip, get your soldering iron ready and attach a vga port.
Actually thanks to the libdlo driver from freedesktop.org (http://libdlo.freedesktop.org/wiki/) it should work in just about any Linux distro. Thats just another DisplayLink device.
Ohh, nice. Do you have the touch screen version? If so, how well does the touch aspect work under Win 7? -hl718
I don't have the touchscreen version but i have played with one (but only in WinXP). It basically moves the mouse cursor to the screen.
