OK let's assume for simplicity's sake, we're using a theoretical monitor quite literally incapable of processing sync that contains composite video.

Where could non-technical users buy a cable to fix that?

I have no idea. A monitor like that wouldn't support analog sync input in the first place and would require a 1881 (or enhanced compatible chip) to provide it with a digital signal. Typically monitors that support composite sync also support analog sync since composite sync has roots in TV.

The problem is that there are multiple types of sync inputs and outputs:

    -TV connections use analog sync
    -VGA connector uses digital sync
-Older (15 kHz) computer monitors may take digital sync or analog sync, or both on different connectors (sometimes digital sync is even used with analog RGB)
-1881 take analog sync for input and output digital sync
-Composite video is largely compatible with analog sync, unless it's distorted
-Analog sync inputs can often take digital sync if you can turn off the terminator, which is a problem for digital sync outputs
-game consoles and arcade boards typically output some crappy thing inbetween analog and digital, requiring an analog input, but may not be compatible if the line is terminated
-Digital sync outputs cannot drive analog sync inputs, they don't have the current capacity for the terminated line
-Analog sync outputs typically cannot drive digital sync inputs because the signal isn't large enough

Good point. Yet another of my ideas there isn't enough market for anyway, besides I'm getting way off topic.

Hi, I'm 'some dude' who made the PVM video. So did you install the LM1881 yourself? I've got one on order. I'll be glad to hear if this solves the issue & I'll quickly make a followup video.
