Hey!, Just got me a new netbook (1201t) which is really nice, but it only has vga out, it was no problem when i got it, but i just got a new tv and all i got is component and hdmi, just wondering if anyone knows a cheap vga to component adapter. I remember seeing a post here where dot50cal i beleave showed something made by RCA to connect his dreamcast vga box to component and i beleave it was fairly cheap, does anyone know the name of it, link to the post as i cant find it, maybe one you got laying around and no longer need or a cheap one? thanks. PS: I just need it to be able to do 720p to play hulu , tv shows and some 720p rips on my tv.
I guess this is what you want: http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49272710.htm Edit: Whoops, no 720p mode, sorry!
I found dot50cal post, but it turns out I can watch flash tv-shows on my ps3 and i can also play MKV videos after transcoding them , so i guess i don't even need to hook it up anymore, thanks though.
Are you referring to HDFury? If so, I've heard good things but be warned, they have been deemed illegal and will be soon harder to find.
no I'm talking VGA to HDMI, i sell them all the time at work. http://sewelldirect.com/articles/vga-to-hdmi.aspx
This kinda falls along the lines of the VGA to component/composite/svideo cables- where you usually need a pretty mid-highend card to support it as all the conversion is done in software- I've seen the features on both ati and nvidia's control panels, but most laptops are pretty gimped in features... Because the 1201t uses an ATI video chipset, you stand a chance of using said cable, or better yet, the vga to component cables that are around, but i'd say not to waste your money or time if you don't see an option for HDMI or component in the catalyst control center. Any other solution is going to necessitate at least some basic active conversion- not just a cable. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10114&cs_id=1011404&p_id=4629&seq=1&format=2 Is one i'd recommend offhand if you want to go the HDMI route.
