I received the following mail troday ! NICE ONE !! So sod Ebay and head on over for the chance of a life time ! A free auction site !! Oh and buy something from my shop while you're there  https://www.videogameauctions.co.uk Yakumo
Videogameauctions.com is now 100% free to use Some of you may have seen this news from the main page of the site. As of the 8th of Feb VGA is now totally free to use, There are no charges or fees whatsoever. In an effort to give people an option to ebay this is pretty much the only move the site and staff can make because after all if a totally free marketplace which prides itself on customer service still isn't worth using or supporting then what is? Please help spread the news and please use the site if you can because it is now being ran in such a way that only the consumers can benefit and help create a better marketplace. http://www.videogameauctions.com
How long is this free service going to last for Kron ? I want to make a big shout about this in the next Retro Core Add ! Yakumo
How do you intend to pay for the site? Through advertising money? Because if so, I would rather pay...
Because EBay has the pulling power (Just like the Sony name on a console) so to gain some of that power VGA has to do something special and you can't get anymore special than a FREE auction site. I've been a member of VGA since day 1 or there about with some very successful results. They just need to draw in more people. Yakumo
Its totally permanent mate, If people can't use a free site and make work for themselves then there is no point for everyone involved with the site to continue. This is being done purely to give people an option, We are all prepared to cover the costs if people realise whats on offer and start to use the site. Simple as that.
I just hope they don't sell the information they get in order to keep the lights running... Might use the site to sell off some of my games, then..
Peoples personal data is kept totally confidential and isn't shared with anyone. _skitzo_ I'll send you a PM so we can try and find out whats happening.
Wow, this is great news. I'll definately have to check it out next time I am looking to sell (or buy) some stuff. Good to see someone challenging the online auction giant. Although I have to think it'll be very costly for VGA to do this for an extended period of time. In any case, nice job Kron and everyone else involved.
Because you didn't say anything that really added to the topic. Anyways. The one problem I have with VGA is that most of the sellers there are from the UK (obviously, as the service is based there). This isn't a problem if you live in the UK, but as the pound has constantly been hovering between $1.75 to $2, I'd end up paying about twice as much, to the point where it's really not worth it for me to stop using eBay. The Euro isn't quite as low against the pound as the dollar, but I'd imagine they'd run into a similar situation. VGA is a great idea, and I really hope it does well, but in my opinion, for it to do so there need to be more international sellers coming to the table. Obviously, the best way to do this is through advertising - letting those people who normally work on eBay know that there's a service geared entirely toward game auctions. Unfortunately, advertising usually costs money unless you get a REALLY good word-of-mouth fanbase going, which is why I'm a little puzzled at the decision to make the service free of fees. Maybe enough people will be drawn in by the promise of no fees, but I just have a hard time seeing how they'll manage to pay for expenses - unless they're planning on reinstating fees in the future.
yes it did, it said that there is no people on that site, and censoring messages is just plain silly.
Well no wonder it was deleted if you are taking everything at face value, There are actually lots of people at the site its just a case of getting them to start listing.
I'll have to check the site out, but the reason I quit looking is a lot of the sellers will not ship internationally. Yes, I understand that this is the same as eBay. I just never understood what the problem is in filling out one little form.
Allow me to clarify: 'censoring' is the act of silencing viewpoints and opinions different than that of a dominant majority. Assuming ASSEMbler was a stark raving Nintendo fanboy and the mods went around deleting every post that mentioned Sony or said Nintendo sucks - THAT would be censorship. In this occasion, the proper phrase is 'cleaning up spam'. A one-line post of "so sad there are only like 100 members and 10 auctions" contributes nothing useful to the post, and is in fact closer to trolling than anything else. If you have something to add, by all means do so, but you can make a point in an intelligent manner, and you're by no means limited to a single sentence. And while they're not required, we certainly welcome punctuation and capital letters.
