If only this could bring an end to all voice acting in videogames.

now hopefully the publishers get some senses and leave the original voice track and opt for subtitle instead...

you know Korean voice actors aren't that bad...
I've played few Koran release of PS2 titles and they sounded ok...

also on US Kingdom Under Fire there's an option to turn on the voice to Korean since it's done by Korean company...

i just wish voice actors would be just that actors from cartoon shows or anime then they would be good. I played starwars revenge of the sith or what ever the fuck it was called. Obi one just sounded as if he was on the phone doine the cut scene.

I'm normally in support of organized labor, but these guys.... fuck them.

Seriously, these people make like $289 an hour, and usually only work 12 hours or so on a project. And they want more money? They're holding out for royalties on the games. So everyone who's name is attached to the game is supposed to get a piece of the gross now? Hey, what about the programmer who works 12 hour days for six months straight? How come he's not getting any royalties? What about my ass, working 15 hours a day for three damn months, no parties, no chicks, no fucking fun, how come I'm not seeing no damn royalties? Do they give every little person who works on a movie a piece of the pie? Nope, you do your part and then it's over. You get to put it on a resume.

That's the problem with these actor types, they think becasue people see and hear them en masse that makes them like, important or something. In the meantime the rest of the people who make the project happen get the shitty end of the stick, be it games, movies, etc. It's bullshit. My boss would laugh all the way to the pink slip if I tried to unionize and pull some shit like this.

The really sad part is that it's the programmers who need a stupid union. Programmers get dropped and traded like baseball cards. I'd like to dream of unionizing testers, but it's not hard to fill vaccancies when "playing video games" is in the job description.

    Fuck these people.

Here, Here ! You tell it as it is Hawanja. I agree with you 100%. Same goes for sport stars that request more money for basically playing a game they like.

Asian voice actors aren't any better on average but no one ever complains since who would dare to utter a blasphemous word against the otaku religion.

The cartoon, non-anime, voice actors are expensive. They aren't celebrities but their voices are in demand for many projects which go beyond just kids' cartoons. The pool of voice actors who do practically all voice acting in America is relatively small afaik.

Good that somebody mentioned that :smt045 I quite agree with you, and I guess people tend to find Japanese voice acting to be better sounding because they don't understand it anyways.

I understand it and I can say that I'd rather listen to Japanese voice acting over English for one main reason which is - They have no stupid regional accents most of the time. I don't want to play a game and hear a load of American accents in a Japanese game or a load of thick regional British accents either. It just blows that fantasy away.

Hawanja, as usual, speaks the truth. Fuck. The Japanese voice actors don't get pieces, and those people are famous. What a bunch of morons. Let 'em strike... hope they starve a bit.
