A great commercial I've never seen until now, it shows the amazing level of innovation and confidence nintendo had in the early days. Compared to the lackluster image they put foward today, nintendo could use a renewed aggressive spirit these days. After all, they did kill off the master system, atari, lynx, gamegear and the nomad, and minimized the genesis. All with "inferior" hardware. It's the nintendo way. Nintendo seems to have lost it's edge as the key players get older. Perhaps it's time for some more aggressive people to come in and make sure revolution gets the attention it deserves. Oh yeah, the great video is HERE
not really sure what they are saying in the commercial.. but it was indeed something different from these days commercials. so what do you all say boys and girls, you think nintendo has a chance coming back to the throne? imho I think the chance is actually pretty low thinking of how they are labeld these days. I think they seriously should do something about there image. but also in a way, I think I'm kind of happy the way they are doing things too.. I mean it feels like they are doing something important with theire struggle to reach out to the people who has never played a videogame. I also like how they actually try to rethink theire designs everytime they release a console. for these two things I salute you. ...but I still think they should seriously think over how to reach out to all the graphic-over-gameplay and halo/gta/whatever-is-teh-best gamers in the world. (sorry for the long text.. tried to express some thought I couldn't express in words )
To take the throne back? Not this gen, to give Sony a good run for it's money and keep a soild #2 ranking behind sony, and come very very close to #1, 100 percent. Unless for some ungodly reason they drop the ball again, I dont see why not
ah, the issue of subjectivity. Many new gamers, of all ages, will agree that the Wii is what they consider fun, funner than the GameCube, the NES, the SNES and the GameBoy, and that's why, in their view, nintendo are at their best now. As with all companies the purpose is to make a profit. Trends change and so changes the way that profit is made - and nintendo seems to get it right this time around like back in the NES/SNES days, they're shuffling cash.
I love those old Japanese game commercials, especially those from Nintendo. The Famicom ones are even lovelier than the SFC/GB spots I think, but GameBoy Wars is epic. I think GaijinPunch once had the second picture in your post used as an avatar (or was it a standard additional avatar after a certain amount of posts?).
Agree, they don't look asian at all, which is kinda weird since they speak Japanese... Maybe Nintendo wanted to release this commercial outside Japan?
