    Title says it all.

    Hackaday link.

I did the exact same thing to my 1984 Toyota 4x4 almost a year ago. Some of you here may remember it from a video I posted somewhere here long ago. I still have yet to hook the button to my horn. It's been completely stripped down of non essential running gear for off highway use so I gotta add a horn first...

EDIT: I have added the video I'm referring to down lower. Go down to post # 10 to see it. You do get to see my "video gamer stick shift" in it.

Interesting. I never thought of that. One of my buddies bought a 1982 VW Rabbit diesel to save on gas. It was a cheap beater so he kind of goofed off with the customizations on it. He didn't do the Joy stick on the shifter, but he did do something else gamer like to it.

Yes. He attached the buttons that you use on a arcade machine. 4 of them are actually connected to do some function in the car. The other 4 are extras for when something else pops in his head. Pretty neat.

As a real driver I can tell you that using one of those old computer Joysticks is a dumb idea. You can't change gears properly with that because you can't get your hand in the right position. or maybe the guy who did the mod is one of those muppets that no matter what gear he's selecting his hand is always in the same place on the stick. If you were to do this mod I'd probably say those western arcade sticks would be best. Pretty cack for gaming IMO but the best arcade stick, the sanwa style would be too small as a gear stick.

I'd worry about the integrity of plastic and milliput on a gearstick. I know he said he did it like that with epoxy so it wouldn't come off, but it's not exactly a properly secured stick. That, and it could easily invalidate your insurance. Imagine if you had an accident and they discovered this.

But of course. I ALWAYS have right of way when on private property and no other traffic around. I still have right of way when others are around since they know I am not scared to fuck their car up with my truck. I'll knock the shit outta your car if you mess with me. :highly_amused:

    ...

I have no reply to make other than OK. I think...

Ah. Right. It was wrecked when we got it for free so that statement is fitting. It doesn't run quite the way it should (carburetor fucked up beyond repair) but it does start better than most EFI vehicles and runs good enough for what we do with it.

Sir, what you fail to realize is that is that you can ride that truck through dunes, mountains, off road events, country roads and anything and everything else. I take it you weren't like me as a teenager riding through trails on a 3-wheeler. I am actually gonna rebuild my honda atc sometime soon.

I only recently understood how to drive stick, and come from the suburbs, so taking a truck mudding isn't really viable for me :p

Question is do you get it now? If not then we need a small class on "gaming joystick shifter knob for your floor mounted transmission shifter".

Technically speaking, it's more (70%) a video of you talking about it ;) Nice barebones truck, though! :)

I know, lol. Reminds me of the episode of The Simpsons where Homer calls Japan - "Hello, chief! Let's talk, why not?" Fortunately his video was more coherent ;)
