henners i totally agree my Technics does look like a pile of crap compared to the 70's 80's stuff but to be fair the stuff that came after it look even worst lol the model that replaced my ca1060 is horrible cheapo silver plastic :'( . I think that my Technics is one of the last cool looking models they made, every thing after it had them flashy digital graphical equalisers ¬_¬

No, no, no, no, NO! I didn't say splash out £5k on upgrading a 1210. Just sayin' that a 1210 with a replacement tonearm will give a lot of your so-called high-end turntables a decent run for their money.

Never read so much audiofoolery in all my life  Love the way you refer to all music that has some form of beat as "crap". I suggest you hold onto your weekly Hi-Fi budget and go see a plastic surgeon about that upturned nose of yours.

It really won't. It's a DJ deck, not a decent turntable UNTIL you throw a pile of cash at it.

They're what, £400-600 anyway? How much is the Rega arm? A couple of hundred? What's the point spending even £500-1,000 on a Technics when you could spend £500 on a Rega that's actually dedicated to hi-fi? You don't need, or want, pitch correction for hi-fi. And, like I said, there are many other components in the Technics that are set up for DJ use now and are lacking for proper hi-fi.

Technics are the Subaru of the hi-fi world. Chavs think they've got a decent hi-fi setup, but really there's better out there for the same sort of price.

No, not any music with a beat - ALL music has a beat. The sort of unimaginitive crap they churn out in clubs in Ibiza. The sort of music where it'd take you 10 minutes or so to realise the bloody needle is stuck in the same groove!

Henners, I sold my decent stuff ages ago. Used to have Meridian gear, and my friend had Meridian and Tag McLaren stuff! Then I had my studio setup. I've still got some old stuff around, though - if I come across it, I'll take pics. Mainly mega retro gear that I keep for one reason or another! There's a pair of Celestion Dittons from the 60s around somewhere that I need to restore.

Err, that's only for the UK mate. Japanese Chavs drive stupid shitty mini vans. I also doubt you'd get a better car for the price of a STi or at least not here you wouldn't.

I don't think anyone buys Technics amplifiers (such as the two I run) thinking it's Hi-Fi. myself included.
