Hi all, newb here. I went to Japan back in 1986 on vacation and picked up a NTT phone card. I was told back then it might be collectable in the future. I just happened to come across it tonight. This was around 1986 when I was there on vacation for a couple of weeks. I've searched to try to find out more about this card but have has no luck. I'm a vintage toy collector, mainly Megos and Popys and a buddy of mine pointed me to this forum. Not sure how to post a pic so I'll do my best to describe the card. It's a 50 unit card with '85 on it so I'm assuming it was made in 1985. It has a little blue alien type guy on it with a white round circle around him, in space with an astronaut below him on the left side. There's a multi-colored tri-angle type thing in the top right side. I know this is very vague. Any help is greatly appreciated and if need be I'll do my best to post a pic. Great to be here and any thanks for any ID help.
I was intrigued to see whether your description would be enough to find the card. I think that's the one you have: http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/189231884 The character is Cosmo Hoshimaru, the mascot of the Expo '85 that was held in Tsukuba. If unused the card is not worth more than it's actual credit value of 500 Yen. You can google for テレカ コスモ星丸 for more results.
Yep that's it and thank you so so much for the assist!!!! It's unused, really value doesn't concern me much. It was cool to just find out some info on it. Again thank you Going to try and post a pic.
You're welcome. I understand that the nostalgic value is much bigger than the monetary one. Must have been exciting to be in Japan during the Famicom era.
