One of the few unreleased shumps that people seem to care about, Violent Seed, has poped up on ebay here (why arn't links working...?): http://cgi.ebay.com/PlayStation-PS1...0QQihZ017QQcategoryZ62053QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Its a bit pricey though, but seeing as its four different builds and is the only time I recall it ever appearing for sale, was wondering if anyone would want to do a fundraiser to have it released?
I'll gladly participate, but I don't think I could give more than a tenth of its price. The seller also has 2 another unreleased games, a shmup, Maniac Moons and a 3d fighting game, Spirit Master.
Maybe its time to start the donation again? I think that spirit master was leaked a while back so don't expect many people interested in that but Violent Seed looks like a nice buy.
Really???@! Anyone got the link to that article? I'm sure it would generate alot more interest in this suggestion to fundraise. Of course i can donate a small amount
I have that EGM issue, but i'm out of state atm so cant scan it. However I did scan a gamepro article on the game a while back in my presents thread: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5808
Hmmm... Cool So how are you planning to organize the fundraiser? You should PM assembler or one of the higher ups.
Here's the scan from the article.. Interestingly enough, this article says that you get to tbe the aliens, while the GamePro article that Fabrizo scanned says you defend from the aliens... wonder which build the ebay one is?
http://www.evl.uic.edu/beu/SEED/violentSeed.html One of the artists webpages on the game (the two links in the webpage don't work anymore...). Never liked 3D polygon 2D shooters (if that makes sense...).
Guys hold your emotions in check here. I know you are exited about this group and being able to buy all these games you never had the chance to as an individual but just hold on. That doesn't mean we spend money like its not ours. If we work together we can do so much more than pool money. We can work together to aquire games AND we can haggle for prices if that fails. In this case the seller recently aquired these by going directly to the source. If we break up into teams and contact all known directors/programmers we have a good chance to get these and other titles for free. Hell... he did it solo. I also know this seller needs cash and he would sell for a fraction of the price if we are the only offer on the table. Another thing to consider is that the PS1 proto market has not developed yet. There is no race to buy these. No one (other than me and him) that I know will buy a random unreleased PS1 game for 4 digits. Deuce and Madden 96 both sold for several hundred and there is no good reason to pay more just because its pooled money. So here is what I am suggesting. First off we pool money without a goal in mind. So when we do find something truely one of a kind (and all efforts to obtain it by other means have failed) we have someone who represents us haggle just as a real buyer would and we do so with real money already collected. We can vote on what to spend it on and I feel even if it is spent on something you may not want in the long run we can aquire more of them with less money. Second and most important those who want to contribute but have no money can help aquire unreleased games for free with emails and phone calls. Lets contact these same programmers and designers before anyone spends a dime.
Hmmm... I like this idea of a money pool and then voting on a worthwhile target. Anyone got a decent plan on how we organize this chest? (perhaps BuyAtari?)
I agree with Buyatari's ideas. If only I had the right email addresses and phone numbers I would start a tactful and diplomatic campaign to seek out unreleased good.
Well there is no phone book of "right numbers" its a matter of collecting and contacting ALL numbers amd emails till one pays off. Finding out who worked for specific developers like artists, programmers, sound techs, game testers and then tracking them down one by one via local phone book or google or his monster job listing or his buddy we tracked down last week. Lot of work for 1 guy. Divide it into 10 and keep it organized hell it might even be fun. If you guys want to do this go over to the Roll Call thread and tell us who you are. After we get a good ammount of names and talents we can form teams and get to work.
If something gets worked out, I will donate a little something for your cause. Keep updating the thread and listen to what Buyatari is saying
And there's the design documents and iron-ons. I would love to see the design documents. 300 pages though???
