I'm very interested in installing one of these, however I can't really find any useful info on the net. Is it easy to install? Do I need that horrible programmer hanging out the back of my lovely GC? Also, does anyone know where I can find detail (read: for idiots) instructions on how to fit one? Tony
from what I've seen here in the Black Market, the chip is about as costly as a gamecube itself. No idea about the price in the first world, but I'll tell you, it seems to be a delicate operation. It also needs some laser callibration, and to get high quality media. I'll ask around to see if someone I know has one of these, and it it still helps you when I get the data, I'll tell you how or who installed it and how it works.
$60, 4 wires, if you can't install this keep your day job. PS, you don't need the dongle hanging out your cube.
I don't want the BBA and PSO thing, too much hassle. Besides my GC is in the living room - where a console should be ;-) I can get the chip for £30, so that's the same price as a game.
The installation is very very easy, only 4 wires and a bridge between two points and very very easy to solder (i installed a lot of modchips in ps2 and these are more difficult to solder). The problem was for me to program the modchip, because my motherboard is stupid and i turned on the gamecube and i did all well but the tool for program the modchip always said me that the modchip didn't found. Finally i could program the modchip, i connected it directly to my motherboard (without the gamecube, yes it's rare but it worked !!). Other problem... the gamecube only read well Ritek's dvd, other dvds give me a lot of DREs. Cheers.
