Hello All I was wondering if it is possible to buy or even make an 220v-240v ac adaptor for the US Virtual Boy?
    Thanks.

It used the AC adapter as the SNES unit AFAIK, so if you already have the AC adapter tap add-on (which you need to plug the adapter into), you should be able to use a standard PAL-SNES transformator

No don't use a UK/Euro SNES PSU as that is AC (and not DC) and will probably damage the Virtual Boy. If you buy the Japanese AC power tap (VUE-011), then you should use a Sega Master System / Megadrive or a 9V to 10V DC 850ma or better (1A is fine) negative tip PSU.

iiik, wtf i just assumed the sfc and ntsc snes to have the same kind of power adapter as the pal unit...

i'm really sorry, i hope you didn't destroy it

btw, does anyone have any photo of the VUE-011 pcb? it would be pretty stupid of ninty to not include a rectifier and 7805 in the design...

The SNES was an interesting machine as none of the three main regions interchangable power supplies. SFC used the same PSU as the Famicom (10V 850ma DC), SNES (Euro) used the same PSU as the NES (Euro) (9V AC...) and the SNES (US) used a DC rather then AC PSU and used a uncommon power connector... it could be a pub quiz question one day....

It feels quite light, but can't say I've ever opened one...

    So just to clarify
US Virtual Boy + Japanese Tap = Australian Sega Megadrive/Genesis Power Brick?

This is good to know as I've been trying to get hold of a Virtual Boy for a while now, but hadn't considered the potential power supply problem of using it in the UK.
