In march I'm visiting New York City for the first time. I'll be living in Manhattan. I always wanted to see NBA match. On 3 march there's Knicks vs Bulls in Madison Square Garden. What is the cheapest way to get the tickets? Ticketpro doesn't ship them outside America and Ticketmaster is out of tickets below $50 Next question is about video games. Where should I buy this stuff? I'm interested both in 2nd hand games (as collector) and new games and systems (as player)? Are there any good ARCADE saloons?
Ohhhh. That game is going to be HUGE, that Knicks and Bulls game. Try to sit near the team (doesn't matter which one), because you might just be close to a celebrity such as Jack Nicholson, and maybe even Speilberg. Check out brooklyn for locally owned shopsand even pawn shops.
Huge game, I'm sure. Buy tickets no matter what if you like Basketball. That's probably about the best regular season game you can find.
Would anybody sell me 2 or 3 tickets? I can pay you now by Paypal. It may be the only chance in my life to see the NBA match. And do you think it would be possible to buy XBOX 360 Premium Pack in the first days of march without any problems? Because in Europe it's still very hot product, so I'm thinking about geting US system (much cheaper than european!) and importing games from us (much cheaper than european) while waiting for some import enabler or modchip I'm also interested in buying a laptop computer. Is there something better than BestBuy?
By March you should be able to find the 360 in most places unless they decide to cut shipments again. Anywhere is better than Best Buy. Their prices are horrible and the products that they sell sometimes aren't even new. You might want to consider buying it online if you can; it will be cheaper than buying it in NYC.
I'll be in NYC only for 5 days, so I won't have time to order something online. So what shops are better than BestBuy? Is everyghins opened on Sundays as on every other day of the week? In Europe due to church some places are closed.
Well, it depends on what kind of laptop you want to get. I have been very pleased with the Inspiron that I got from Dell (educational discount is a plus too). My wife has been extremely happy with the Asus laptop that we got from a generic online vendor. Neither of us have particularly like the two Sony Vaio's that we have had (flimsy, overheat, poorly grounded when plugged in, etc.). As far as websites, I use to recommend using Resellerratings for research, but it seems like they are letting too many "placed" feedbacks for some stores. For shipping, you can usually pay a few extra dollars to get the 2-day or 3-day shipping option which lets you make sure that the laptop gets there on time. You could always order it early and just let the hotel know that you will be getting a package right before you arrive. Most hotels do not have a problem with this, but call and ask just to be safe. Now, if you do get a laptop, make sure that you get rid of the box and set it up before you return home. If you take it in its original box, Customs may try to make you pay duties on it. If it looks like you brought it with you, then you should be able to avoid those.
This one is important. You might get caught on the 360 though, As I assume you will be keeping the box and everything etc. You should get away with the laptop though. With customs charges you may also find the 360 isn't cheaper and it may just be easier to get a PAL console
Some store I can't remember the name of on St. Mark's Place. Great selection, poor prices (cept for Headhunter which is only $10)
I just had a thought on laptops. Buy IBM. They're built like tanks. They look kinda like tanks too...but they last.
I will never buy a laptop that isn't a thinkpad. I'm forced to use a dell laptop for work, and the difference in quality is amazing... The problem with buying a laptop online is if you have to customize it. If there's anything you want to change (the ram, the hard drive, the screen size) it can take a month to ship. Custom laptops are built to order from most manufacturers. Expect a long wait. If you're just ordering a stock laptop, then shipping can be within hours. I once received a compaq laptop within 12 hours of ordering it, and it shipped from china!
If two of them have survived my brother's ownership, then they are definitely built to last. The last one he owned survived an impact with his wall. The Dell he had wasn't so lucky.
damn when i was there i was so mad,i cant remember the name of the place either.i walked in and was in awe of the selection compared to anything here in indiana then they kicked me out becouse they were closing.i walked by an hour later and they were open again.i was mad that they didnt even tell me it was just that they were closing for dinner,i thought they had weird hours or something.
the place on st marks is Multimedia 1.0, and it sucks. if you want a good import store it is J&L Game Trading in Chinatown on Elizabeth St, but it's still overpriced. Of course, import to you would be American games, so there are EBGames and Gamestops all over the place as well as the massive Virgin Stores which have ok selections but a ton of music. If you're looking for more interesting, affordable shopping, which includes videogames, I would recommend the Boroughs. Sure you should check out high fashion Herald Square and Chinatown in Manhattan, but try to get down to the Fulton Street Mall in Brooklyn and maybe Main Street Flushing in Queens. If you're interested in nightlife, head to the lower east side and check out Avenue A or take the train to Williamsburg Brooklyn. Alot of hip dive bars and weird people to meet. Everything is easily accessible by train from Manhattan. Buying a weekly unlimited MetroCard should be the first thing you do, even though it's for seven days I guarantee you you'll save money if you're travelling. Have fun, don't concentrate on the garbage smell and dont waste money on cabs.
