Anyone ever had this happen? I cant recall when it started happening, but for some reason ALL my folders always stick to detail view in shrunk windows when I open them, and when I change the view to large icons, Vista doesn't remember the setting. Last time something similar like this happened when I had something in the USB port and when I took it out it started acting normally again. Is there something I can do to fix it? Its annoying to have to right click to view thumbnails every time I open a window now. And when I back up and go forward using the arrows, it happens then, too. I don't know why its doing this. Is there something in Folder options I can change or something that needs to be cleared or edited?
Open My Computer, open folder you wish to modify, Set folder to what you want it to look like using View menu, click Tools > Folder Options, Click View and click apply to folders. Also right click a folder, click Properties, click Customize and set folder to one of the standard folder settings then click OK.
It's a bug in Vista, I think - especially if you've already set it similar to Jamtex's way. Report it.
I did what Jamtex said and It seems to be working now. Hopefully it doesn't start doing it again. Thanks! Instead of making a new topic, I thought I'd talk about this in here as well. When I leave my PC on overnight, my HD space seems to go waaaay down. Whats running in the back that eats so much space? It goes down like 2 gigs a night, but eventually stops around 44. I did a defrag the other day and got rid of 18 gigs!! And now 4 gigs are gone, and its been only a few days since the last defrag, and I haven't even installed anything...
