Viva Piñata (Rareware's new game) http://www.mundorare.com/juegos/vivapinata/screenshots.html and http://www.mundorare.com/juegos/vivapinata/arte.html I have no idea where this media came from, but there's no way that it's fake. Game looks.....differn't...really don't know enough about it yet to form an opinion, EDIT: http://xboxworld.nl/news/7842/ - Anyone want to tell me where they got these screens from, were they given to them?
Rare lost their souls afer they were bought by microsoft. Grabbed by the ghoullies, Perfect Dark Zero, and now this. Kameo was decent though.
Don't forget conker, I've bought every game of theirs since they were bought out, I really havn't been that dissapointed though, but I will agree, they havn't released anything as amazing as what they were doing when they were developing for the N64 since then.
So this is Rare's new kids game. Looks pretty nice, they seem to have captured the paper pinata style with that block look.
Conker was just the n64 game with better graphics and online play. And the online, imo, was really bad. So it doesnt count.
Viva Pinata looks really interesting. A very different style, I'll be interested to see how it plays.
What a confusing game for kids. I mean the game is about you having to grow these pinatas and protecting them from being broken open (aka death). I like how they try to flower up death in this game. It's ok kids, if your pinata dies because you can eat the candy that comes out of it! you know there is probably some twisted kid out there who will think their pet cat or dog is just the same... Oh and Perfect Dark 64 and Conker 64 were Rare's last great games before they moved down to shit town.
Rare also made a few crap GB/n64 games. I love Rare, they make my kind of games ray: -edit- Movie: http://wm.world.mii-streaming.net/media/4kids/previews/pinatapromo_Multistream500.wsx
Hmm, the only Rare game I have is Star Fox adventures. Is COnkers bad fur day for the N64 the EXACT same as the Xbox version? With the army part in the beginning and killing the Tediz or whatever? I never saw the original n64 Conker in an Army outfit.
Dunno about the suit, but yes, all the chapters are the same, but in the n64 version Conker has a frying pan, but he ditches it for a baseball bat with a nail coming out of it in the xbox version.
viva Pinata cute! This is a definate departure from anything Rare has done before. I'm glad they're going to a different direction, it shows that they're not just stuck on the same types of games. I'm thinking this might be the first game for the 360 that i'll actually look forward to.
It's a different kind of Life-Sim kind of thing I guess, it might not be a bad game and the graphic style would have been hard to achieve even if it doesn't look that great, very much a 'non-gamer'/kids kind of game I think. The single-player of conker is essentially identical I read there was a joke or two about the game being ported mixed in somewhere and yeah the frying pan was a terrible loss...woo generic spiked bat 'yay'.
While the game most certainly won't appeal to everyone, the visual style is very refreshing to say the least.
It looks cute, but that's all I'll say. The soul of Rare left long ago. What's up with all the life sim games lately?
I like the visuals. You cant say you've seen anything like it before. We will see how this one turns out.
Well, now I've seen everything. As many of you guys know, Piñatas used to be a fundamental part of birthdays in Mexico, as well as the days leading to Christmas, but that's mostly gone, nowadays. Traditionally, and I think this comes from the Spanish conquest, before the 19th century, all Piñatas were simply round but had seven "spikes" - each representing one of the seven capital sins. Defeating the sins by cracking open the Piñata was pretty much the symbolism of it. They started taking many other shapes, and, after the second half of the twentieth century, there are even piñatas shaped like popular television characters. Talk about cultural adaptation, huh? The shapes of the animals on this game also look like "Alebrijes", which are handicrafted figures modeled after some mythical animals, chimaera-like, that usually represent good luck. So you get things like cats with wings and several pretty colours. These are more common at the south of Mexico, but also in many older, colonial towns in the central part of the country. I guess the people at Rare have done a bit of research.
