My biggest complaint aside from record company greed is that Music is far too manufactured these days.

Person writes song, tries to find an artist to perform said song and the money roles in, but you have to pay the pawn royalties,

In theory Vocaloid cuts out the pawn and the label and song writers get all the money. No pesky artist to get in the way of Profit.

It's Genius I'm shocked it hasn't quite taken off in the west,

The Vocaloid songs I've heard so far are more infectious than AIDS. CRAZY.
I for one bow before our digitized musical over lords.

TELL ME this song isn't stuck in your head after hearing it.

I didn't get it at first but I totally get it now and it's Genius

    Step 1 Fake vocals
    Step 2- Lyrics
    Step 3- Generic House beat
    Step 4 ????
    Step 5 Profit.

    GENIUS I say

AND STILL more talented than Justin Bieber (I'm not 100% convinced he's not a Vocaloid himself)

It really is genius from a business perspective, but I feel that synthetic voices are murdering music as we know it. But then again, the same can be said for the many singers that have their voices altered digitally.

Record labels are going to need a way to stay relevant in this new age of information Vocaloid may just be that.

There are always going to be talented musicains these douchebags are over looking and thanks to You Tube and Twitter and Facebook ect it's getting easier and easier for talented people to not need a record label to be noticed. While the autotuned hacks can stay with a major label and be exploited until their audience hits puberty and discovers real music.

But yeah the problem with Vocaloid is the voice it self still sounds very robotic we're really not quite there yet in terms of replicating the human voice. There could be a real shit storm when that does happen.

Worst Case scenero....well ever see Macross Plus?

You know, my experience with Vocaloid is the Levan Polka and the Po Pi Po Vegetable juice song, so I didn't know there were actually artists that primarily use it.

However, I don't think we can discount human performers completely just yet.
