What exactly is a vSaturn? I saw one for sale and I've been trying to find about it. I did a search and have seen it mentioned, but what makes it different from any other Japanese Saturn besides the coloring?

Mostly they made the Hitachi and Victor models as clones to be sold in more upscale stores like department stores. The regular Sega units went through the video game shops. During the 90s the big thing was to position your console as an entertainment machine, not just a gaming console, and I think the V and HiSaturns tried to present the Saturn under that light. That's just my assumption.

I have some pictures below. I used to have almost all of the Saturn systems at one time, but it was right before I left Japan and I just snapped these quick pictures before I boxed them up. Now I wish I would have spent more time taking pics of the differences side by side. Oh well.

    Saturn HST-0001 = Victor V-Saturn RG-JX1 (long box)

    Saturn HST-0004 = Victor V-Saturn RG-JX1 (short box)

    Saturn HST-0014 = Victor V-Saturn RG-JX2

    I've started calling the V-Saturns RG-JX1 (L) and RG-JX-1 (S) just to separate them.

They were released at the same time as their sister consoles and followed the price drops as well. The size and gloss/matte box type are also the same.
