Okay so i just started collecting again about a year ago and have roughly about 150 games now. All ps1 ps2 ps3 and psp games. But im not sure if i wanna move forward to the next generation that is among us. So i been thinking about going a little more retro with this. So i wanna start collecting Sega ( Saturn Dreamcast CD and genises) games. So would you guys tell me WHAT THE HELL AM I GETTING MYSELF INTO!! this is not cheap and i wanna know what do you guys think about a lifetime playstation fan collecting Sega games. What are your your experience with collecting Sega games.
You in Europe? Sega shit is cheap as hell if you look in the right places. Start hitting up the boot sales and the like and you'll find yourself some good fucking deals pretty fast. I missed out on keio for sega CD (I remember that boxart anywhere now) for £10 because I didn't know what it was at the time.
They say said Genesis sosI'd assume not..? What attracts you to Sega games? Why not try buying Sega megadrive collection and see how you get on playing that (assuming you want to collect to play..) I've owned plenty of Sega stuff, but always sold it on in the past, never really enjoyed their games as much as Nintendo personally, except maybe the Saturn and Dreamcast racers and Yakuza titles..
well i had a dreamcast when i was younger and did like some games on it (house of the dead) as for nintendo i would only go that rought becuase of the Zelda games havent decided if i really wanna go all out and just collect everything i can get my hands on
Personal preference. You're entitled to your opinion, so is he. Some people like Sega, some people like Nintendo, others realize that you're better off having Sega AND Nintendo because there are good games on all formats. Anyway, you know what you're getting yourself into. If you're just doing it to play, then why not? Grab a few Sega games that you enjoy. If you're doing it to collect a complete set, you're WAAY off PlayStation and PlayStation 2 with only 150 games, so you'd be better off collecting them alone, probably.
Genesis has been pretty well documented. Hard to say much new. Ristar is one of its technical milestones. Don't judge the game's level of detail based on composite or RF! So yeah I recommend planning toward audio video quality. Decent speakers, AV cables (especially RGB), and upscaler if needed can be major. I'm of the group who thinks a collection should play reasonably as good as it looks on the shelf.
Sometimes you find people who, just because they find an old console, immediately value it's worth at £50. However, it's ridiculous to find a boxed Atari Jaguar PAL going for £50 @ preloved.co.uk. WITH games.
