Ok I'm after a new PS3 hard drive to store all my games on with the PSJailbreak. All my games are legal but some are big like GOW 3 and FF 13 so upgrade is the best option.

I'm thinking of getting a 500gb hard drive. Will this be enough? Also I don't know which RPM the PS3 uses, is it 5400 or 7200? (couldn't find on search)

These are the two I've been looking at can you tell me which is the best

I am using a 500GB 5200 RPM Toshiba in mine. Works great!

Don't think the RPM matters much. 7200 RPM would probably make your PS3 a bit louder though. However then you have faster read/write.

500GB is probably a great size for the PS3.

The PS3 HDD is SATA I, so rpm may or may not make a difference. With 7200 rpm, you'll have a bit more noise and heat do deal with, but may gain some performance.

You should check the hight/thickness, if I remember correctly 9mm is supported by PS3, there are also 12mm disks out there that will not fit in the PS3 slot! be warned.

Got the HD today. Came really fast was really impressed with the service! Installed fine but backing everything up was a bit of a pain the back up manager Sony uses on the PS3 is poor as. Well at least its all done with plenty of space for my games and films :)
