I believe the hotel unit was the one that acted as a server for the games and you let you play via a connection in the room. The 12 game one is a store demo unit iirc.

Has anyone ever gotten a hotel unit to work? I've seen very few around but usually it is individual parts. Just the box, or just the controller but nothing to connect them and no software.

I see them go on Yahoo Japan every so often, for about £100-200, usually 1 or 2 every month.

Postage will be a killer though.
Famicom Box is (I think) 12 game unit. It wasnt a server it was a standalone, like the M82, which required coins to play for a limited time and could only play its special black carts. They almost NEVER come with coin machines, and they (afaik) havent been engineered to play standard nes/fami carts. I have seen several working models, however.

Yeah, the Famicombox is a standalone unit, as FaZyCrUcK stated. It actually holds up to fifteen games (three columns with five games each). For the store displays, the M82 has 12 game slots (put in whatever cartrdige you want) and the M8 has 15 games that I believe were built into the system.

I have one that works but haven't tried to play any of the black carts on a standard NES. I tried one time to play a standard NES game in the Famicombox, but it didn't work.
I'm not selling mine at the moment, but I've seen them pop up on eBay at least a couple times within the last few months.

There was one on yahoo auctions last week for 40,000 yen however this one was special as it was brand new with its original keys/manual & outer shipping box.

I remember I found one in Yahoo! Japan auctions at about 17500 yen. They're not that hard to find there :-D

The prices for the units have doubled recently on Yahoo. You're going to be better off waiting for things to cool down, then I bet you can get one for a nice price. You're buying at the top of the market right now.

I don't mean to be rude or anything but the person who posted this is probably long gone since he wasn't even a real member to begin with...
