Wanted: Genesis/Megadrive copier, preferably 32Mbits or more

I have a Sonic 3 EPROM cart that I need to get backed up before it bitrots, so I can determine if it's binary-identical to the final (visually, there is no difference). I also would like the capability to run my own code on the Genesis (I plan to start coding C64-style demos and will require testing on hardware before I get too far along), thus why I'd like a copier along the lines of the Super Magic Drive or Multi Game Doctor 2, instead of the fairly recent method of using a Sega CD with a special cable and custom software.

Hey, its me (from GTZ, the SMD guy :)

If you want a 32M+ copier now, your choices are: MGD2 w/ DRAM (32M/$200+, cannot backup games), a Double Pro Fighter (32M/$150), or a MD-PRO (64M/$100, cannot backup games)

I can sell you a DPF or DPFX for around $75, they both are missing the interfaces needed to play. Some HK dealer might be able to sell you a spare adapter or perhaps someone with the pinout could help you out.

Might be easier to dump the EEPROM using a generic reader? It's probably socketed anyways...

Actually, it's not. Here are pics of the cart and PCB. And since the chips are soldered, I don't feel comfortable removing them from the PCB. Besides, like I mentioned, I plan to do a bit of Genesis democoding, and I'll require testing on actual hardware before I start doing too many effects. I don't care so much if something I code doesn't work quite right on an emulator, as long as it runs on hardware.

Kyuusaku: I might take you up on that DPFX offer, if I can find a source for the parts. I'm assuming you're referring to the interface needed to actually plug the DPFX into the system of choice, right? From what I've seen, the DPF/DPFX has cart ports for both systems, I believe.

Yup, DPF is for both SFC and MD. I know the MD connector isn't just a straight pass-through board because I tried that :(

Its very strange to see a prototype with soldered ROMs. I'm curious as to what the jumpers between the EPROMs are for. Heres the pinout of the EPROM if you wanna investigate :)
