    Yeah, I thought about going into to CompUSA and "explaining" to the store manager that forced bundling like this is illegal in most states. And by "explaining", I mean shoving the legal opinion I received from the MD attorney general's office in the manager's face.

    whoa, force-bundling products like that is illegal, isnt it? o_O go for it dudes, kick some verbal ass, and u never know, they might settle giving u a free ps3 than going to court ;)

    technically the bundle wasn't forced, you just got a ps3 if you bought a 40"+ hdtv on the sunday before they came out, or maybe it was 1400$+ tv, one of the two. It wasn't a 'buy a ps3 and then you gotta buy this tv also'. It boiled down to people buying the tv's just to get the ps3 and subsequently the launch systems were already allocated by that friday.

    Actually, this is clear forced bundling. The fact is that you could not preorder or buy a PS3 unless you bought a certain HDTV. CompUSA was very clear that even if all of the PS3's were not allocated to HDTV buyers, they were going to hold them back for future HDTV buyers.

    you could buy a ps3 without the tv on launch day if they had any that weren't sold already, if people bought hdtv's and then pre-ordered ps3s too it was their choice to do so

    You may have found some that did, but none of the ones I am aware of allowed non-HDTV buyers to buy their leftover stock.

    Yes, but that doesn't mean that CompUSA didn't break the law. Regardless, this has gotten way offtopic. At least neomatrix is getting free bumps. :lol:
