**Wanted** PS3 kiosk demo

Is there anything special about these units except that they have a time limit?

 

not really to speak of.



Differences i know of:

no psn no foldingathome has option to install .pkg files from menu but is reported that downloaded .pkg files from psn dont install only special demos meant for kiosk demo unit.

2 people i found to have them got off ebay as refurbs at great price...but sellers not listing them as demonstration units so cant find them on ebay. been searching for 3 months and have contacted seller that sold the 2 i know of floating around out there but only automated response saying they dont reply.

Sadly i am still looking,... had an offer for a broken one awhile back (got dropped on the ground) but really would like a working one..

and firmware below 2.00 on it would be a plus

 

^^ true, my problem so far has been getting ebay sellers to reply if the unit still has it's "Modified for display use" sticker.

All I really desire is the bottom half of the console's housing with that sticker and the normal cecha01 sticker.

I've seen 2 different iterations of the kiosk sticker so far, either one is fine I desire both equally.

Anyone noticing one on ebay please feel free to think of me and post the link here

I purchased a 40GB CECHH Kiosk Unit in January and had nothing but bad experiences with it. While they're cheap, they don't exactly come in the best shape.

These are kits that used to run all day, every day in small enclosed kiosks in stores for months on end. Personally, mine ran incredibly loud (much louder than my launch 60GB) and had GPU issues (various gfx glitches and freezing during gameplay, videos, or even on startup).

I thought it was going to YLOD on me, and I had it for two days! What's worse is that the 40GBs were supposedly much more reliable than the original design of the PS3, so that thing had to be pretty beaten into the ground.

 

Only after launch model, so CECHA01 only.

Yes, most kiosk units got locked inside cabinets to cook. On every day during business hours, etc etc.

I have one CECHH01 here, it's the cheapest ps3 model i have and only red screens on me OH:

I hope for a dedicated linux pup for it one day. :banghead:
