Wanted: Sega Saturn Controllers

Discussion in 'The ASSEMblergames Marketplace' started by Greatsaintlouis, Aug 20, 2004.

  1. I'm looking for a few official Sega Saturn model 2 controllers for a couple of reasons - A) because I only have one controller, B) because I want to try out the much-lauded model 2 controller to see if it is as cool as everyone says, and C) I want to make a USB mod to one for use with MAME and shmups.

Obviously, to do the USB mod means irrevocably altering a Saturn pad, and as the mod requires the replacment of the entire cable, if anyone has any controllers with cable damage - be it sliced wires or a smashed plug - I'd be more than willing to take them off of your hands. You get rid of junk, and I don't have to worry about killing a perfectly good controller if I goof.

As far as colors go, beggars can't be choosers, but I'd definately prefer a white controller over a grey one, and a skeleton one would not be turned down (I'm not sure if these are as rare as the actual console or not) either. List a price that you'd want for the controllers and we'll haggle for cash or trade.

  3. I had seen that Robwebbs store browsing the internet earlier, however being as the prices are in UK pounds, it's a little over budget for me.

And yeah, I probably should have remembered to ask when you were going to Hard Off, but it completely slipped my mind. :smt1069

I have couple of Sega, Hori, and Hudson unboxed Saturn controllers but shipping from Australia means it won't be economical...

    cheers

  5. Well, I only live on the west coast of the US, so I don't think it would be too terribly bad. Anyways, I'm definately interested in the Sega ones - do you think you could list them and the prices you want, and possibly post a few pics?

    Just threw one away. :(
I know it's a bit pricey, but there is a USB Saturn controller out now.

i'm kind of curious myself about doing USB mod to stock Saturn pad
i have enough loose pad to thinker with me think

  9. That's precisely why I'm looking for a pad to mod, because I'd love to use a Saturn with MAME/shmups, I don't want to spend the ridiculous ~$40 on one of the official ones. Would be nice tho... That's the reason I wouldn't mind one with problems in the cord/connector, as that's going to be discarded anyways when I pull off the mod.

  11. Well I'd definately be interested in the grey and black official Sega pads, and possibly that 3D NiGHTS pad as well.

Any chance you also want to get rid of that PC Engine Avenue Pad?? :-D

Greatsaintlouis, were do you have the details about converting an saturn game pad to USB? I can remember that it was something like games-sx or console SX, something like that... could you point me in the good direction I also like to try and convert an gamepad :)

GSL, my local gameshop might have some official saturn pads for like $3-$5 each and since I live in the USA (east coast) shipping won't be 3 times the pricee of the controller. I'll let you know for sure if the store has them, if so I'll put them on hold and find out how much it will cost to ship etc then let you know the final price for the whole thing. Of course, that is if the store has them, which I hope they do.

  15. I'll have your children if you'd do that for me. Just a reminder, I do want official Sega ones, with the preferred order being white, skeleton (clear), grey and black as far as the colors go. I'm looking for 2-3, and if they happen to have one with cord damage that you could weasel out of them for free, all the better. ^__^

80% chance that they will be official ones. 90% chance they will be 3rd party crap. 2% chance they will be skeleton or the "rarer" looking kind. Oh and just mail your girlfriend over here and you'll have my children :smt082

Damn. That place didn't have any. However, they every once in a while get a Sega Saturn. They sell them for $30 and includes 3 games and they try to make them Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA, and Virtua Cop if they have those too. What I like about that store is that they give college student discounts and once you buy $200 worth of games from them, they give you $25 store credit.
