Well I can get my hands on 50x Katana GDR (blue) HTK-006 blanks right now. I was wondering if I gave a few to some one if they could burn off a game or so from a DEV kit if I gave them some disc in return for their kindness. I know these are hard to find and have always wanted a DC game on a GDR so I thought I might ask. Don't think this is against the rules as I was reading the rules but if so please remove and my apologies.

Umm, are you asking people to copy the betas they have on their dev kits?

I can tell you how that will go down with people who own them! ESPECIALLY as you want to put them on GD-R, i.e. make a beta that you could then sell as such.

Incidentally, if you're talking about a sealed spindle, buying those and splitting them is a bit of a moot point here, too - be warned! ;-)

No not for sale but for my collection and it doesn't have to be a BETA or unreleased material. If a retail game could just be burned to it I wold be happy. And I don't care about which game, heck I would even take a tech DEMO. And I am not trying to sell any of the disc. I was just getting some to have some for my collection. I really love my DC and like to get off beat and quirky things for my collection. If not I understand, I can live with just a few blanks sitting on my shelf to show off to friends. I have a few blank GC NR disc as well for showing off, it is just having something that everyone does not see everyday appeals to me. I am sorry and it seems as if this is a off subject so I will let this one die. Thanks for the heads up and I can see what you mean as you never know what some will do these days. Again sorry and good day.

No one in their right mind would do this. If they release it, it's released.

Yea I'm not looking for something undumped. I am not trying to find a diamond in the rough but I totally see what you all are saying. I put myself in someone else's shoes. I was hoping like an actual retail game burned to it not a beta or unreleased game. Heck I would have been cool with the web browser on this disc. Like I said it was just for show. Anyhow it will still be something to show to friends blank as I was going to buy a Dev kit from the same guy but he is asking a little to much if you ask me. Besides they will look nice right next to my NR blanks. Sorry for the dumbass not thinking before I spoke post.

Better use them fast not like they will last much longer. Shelf life for blanks is running out.

Well it seems as if I wasn't to crazy as I got a bite. Thanks anyhow guys. And they are only two years old so the shelf life is not really a problem ATM. They came out of some of the last batches made of the GDR.

Clearly doing this in public even if your "not going to try and sell it after" is going to make the market for games on GDR very dodgy.

Didn't he state that he just wanted a commercial release on GDR?

    What's wrong with that?

The potential for ebay abuse is very high. I'm not saying that's what he wanted it for, but asking someone to put data onto a GDR "just for the collection" is mighty suspicious - a GDR with any data on it goes for at least ten times more than a blank. Besides, it wouldn't be legit, so I can't understand the appeal.

I think the scenario that the others here are dreading is that Propeller Arena or Half-Life get stuck on there and the GDR gets put up for auction as a legitimate disc.
