    I decided to make a little warning to people that want to see the World Cup 2014 in Brazil...

    If you are going to visit our country, beware of danger, robbery and protests. I normally do trips to Porto Alegre (one of the cities that will host the World Cup), and currently, the city is very unstable.

    Here's some tips to help yourself when visiting us:

    - Never keep your money/valuable stuff at your hands or at sight at the streets or public places;
    - Never trust suspect people, they maybe want to rob you;
    - Use wisely your money, because everything by here is very expensive;
    - If there's a protest on your local region, you need to find a place that you can hide or keep by there for a moment. Most of the time, they use fire weapons and violence to stores, places and even with innocent people;
    - There's a high chance that the traffic will be awful, and try ignoring streets/avenues that are full;
    - Do not invest in video games by here, they are f*cking expensive (principally retro games, they are too overpriced).

    One more thing:

    Dude... Really? You think Brazil isn't going to prep for safety on one of the biggest world stages? All your advice is good, but it is common knowledge stuff. I've went to Brazil as a tourist twice with not a single hint of knowing Portuguese and found the country lovely, and the people lovely. Every country has bad spots. With the shear amount of publicity the world cup bring (as well as the $$$ from tourism), you are going to see nothing short of A-team security at these venues.

    and here's me thinking football hooliganism was exclusively an english trait! (watch the film I.D. to get a hint)
    then again, the eighties are still there, i remember, and never forgot!
    ...
    not safe to go anywhere really.
    if i decide to watch, at least it's in the safety of my own home.
    sad state of affairs when the default is 'baton down the hatches' regarding football/soccer.. :(

    Most of the time when there's security, it's mostly for government/special events, and those stuff are damn "sneaky".
    One of the last times that I was at Porto Alegre, two guys robbed me at front of a bank, but happily, I didn't had anything valuable with me. Meanwhile the security guys from the bank didn't do nothing at all, because they "are not prepared for this situation", they said...

    If you start living by here (mostly on a big city), you'll see that there's nasty people that only want to get advantage from kind people, but it's a nice place to keep for a while.

    I forgot one small detail from all of this, they are using part of the public money that was supposed to be used on schools, hospitals, repairs, etc.
    Remember, the minimum salary from here is about $315. Sad, isn't?

    There's this channel called "Canal do Otário", that brings more information about this post. The videos have English subtitles, if anybody wants to see them.

    Here's a nice Wikipedia article to straighten you out on that then, you'll quickly see firms exist worldwide.

    Oh dear, there goes another thing you can't whinge about.

    Brazilian fans also chant "You Will Die" In Portuguese at foreigners at combat sport events, not sure if they do for football.

    You mean soccer, right?
    We only chant "You Will Die" on combat sports (but not much common).

    Every UFC event in Brazil has the Uh vai morrer chants, and they happen at the US events too. I also watch Jungle Fight and being that Jungle Fight is based in Brazil and primarily features Brazilians anytime they bring in a non-Brazilian they're everywhere too.

    Wow, you're signature is illuminating Cyantist. Even in the heat of an argument that is a DISGUSTING thing to say.

    Claiming to be on a Home Office list is almost as bad (11-05, 20:26 ff). Thoroughly unpleasant.

    I don't watch UFC, and maybe that's why I don't hear this chant being said.
    Nice signature... lol!

    Yeah, I've never heard it outside of combat sports, and I've watched a fair bit of Brazilian football. It's even in the old vale tudo stuff at times so I think it's JUST combat sports lol

    And this is coming from a Neo Geo collector!

    I know the current state of affairs in brazilian politics pisses everyone off, but what's with the fearmongering anyway?

    @Cyantist, just add him to your personal "shit list", I'm done with his overreactive, "I'm the only mature person here, stop ganging up on me" mentality. He was the only one to be annoying enough to warrant that, hell even GManWillis didn't get added to the ignore list, only as a friend for laughs haha. Your signature quote is gold and tells the whole story with two lines.

    @Unknown-Org: Pretty lively reply you posted friend, too bad you deleted it. Well at least I could read it since I have e-mail notifications on ;)
