I thought everyone would like to know about my dealings with a particular eBay user, as he apparently has a large amount of "new" Saturn and Game Gear games and accessories from Turkey. I purchased a Saturn 6 Player Adaptor from him, sealed new. When it arrived, I would very much debate that it was actually new. Here are some points: 1. Shrink wrap not of Sega quality, poorly wrapped. 2. Box misshapen, maybe due to poor sealing, bad storage or shipping. 3. Mould on box! 4. Ends taped, tape clearly cut on one end (under shrink-wrap!). 5. Big tear out of back of box, like sticker damage - torn part missing (again, under the shrink-wrap!). I told the seller about this. He apologised. He said that he has nothing to do with the resealing, and suggested that Sega shipped them unsealed. The distributor then put a hologram sticker on the product, saying they are authorized imports to Turkey, and then shrink wrapped. This is plausible, I guess. However, he suggests that the tear occured during this process of wrapping. I don't see how you can tear a box whilst shrink-wrapping, let alone not have the torn bit in the sealed product! The seller offered me two options: 1. Return the item for a refund on the end price, but not shipping. 2. Return the item for a replacement, possibly sealed. The item cost £13. Postage cost £6. This means I lose my £6, plus I have to pay £6 to return the item. I am essentially paying £12 to get £13 back!!! I pointed out that UK parcels are normally insured for up to £25 including postage costs. He said Turkish parcels aren't, and he has PayPal fees (well, PayPal offer the facility to refund!). I asked him if he could check his stock, tell me if he has a sealed one left in good condition. He refused, and said it may or may not be sealed. Looking at the seller's other items, I found some other dubious items: 1. Nights box set with 3D pad - again, box in a poor shape. 2. Christmas Nights, sealed in jewel case. Well, the only jewel cased Christmas Nights I've seen so far turn out to be the cardboard slip version, with the slip cut to fit the case (usually noticably!). I have never seen a shrink-wrapped Christmas Nights, and am very worried about the authenticity of this item. The seller was called swissmurat when I dealt with him, but he has since changed his name (legally) to perfect-auctions. Although this move is legal, and he has 100% positive feedback, it means that at a glance, he is a different seller. He is from Istanbul, Turkey. Anyway, I'm not saying he's trying to rip us off or anything. He seems a nice guy. It may well have been the middleman that he obtained the items from that resealed the games - from what I gather, that was a store. Still, if you are looking for perfect condition games, unfortunately I don't think he appreciates that these aren't. I will post some pictures of my adaptor when I get home later.
Pictures Notice the mould spots, and the bulging bottom (ooh er!) Notice the wavy box shape Obvious tear, I think!
Pictures don't show.. :smt009 However, I think that's a rather decent price to have paid for a Saturn multitap - provided it works. Then again, if you're looking for the box and such to be mint, I guess it's not that good of a deal...
Tried a different pic host, hopefully better. GSL, they seem to be going up stupidly in price. Personally, I thought £13 was OK for a Saturn multitap boxed, but I've paid cheaper. However, it seemed good for a sealed new multitap. My quarrel is that it had been resealed, and was not in such great condition. I've come to an agreement with the seller (I'm keeping it), but I wanted to point out to everyone on here that if they are thinking of dealing with this seller and are worried about either a) shipping with no insurance and hence not getting shipping costs back in the event of a refund situation or b) games/accessories being near mint, then they'd best look at the pictures and description carefully first. Anyway, I now have a multitap that I *could* use, but that means opening the only sealed multitap I've seen in years, bar the ones that are internally sealed. However, as that isn't Sega sealed, and appears to be resealed, perhaps it wouldn't be an issue.
I've been wanting to buy one to play Bomberman and Guardian Heroes, but the price nowadays is too expensive to my taste.
wow! since when it became rare? I have black, grey and SMOB multi-tap at home... good to know these are valuable then... cheers
Man, if you guys want saturn Multi taps then ask me. hard Off sells them for 500 yen most of the time. not boxed of course but still you could get one for 2000 yen I guess after postage and paypal fees are paid. Yakumo
I'll trade my multitap for your Guardian Heroes! Oh wait.... :smt043 I was fortunate enough to find mine, boxed & complete (but not sealed) for 17 euros. It's also great fun with Tree Dirty Dwarves
My first one was free with my Saturn, along with Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III, and about 15 other good games. I think I paid something like £60 for the lot - amazing at the time (the N64 had just come out... or was it Dreamcast? one or the other!). My second one was expensively marked up at £12.99 boxed, but I think I cut him down on that
My Ebay rant #1 and my personal favorite "The item you are bidding on is rare" As im strolling through two or more pages of the rare item :smt042 #2 "Item is sealed" Yes the old play on words, Oh sure my game was sealed but just not factory sealed. :-D #3 "Item has been tested and works like new." Tell that to my Sega CD and my Sega CDX that will not play my CD games :angry #4 "Item from A personal collection from a non smokeing home" Wow!!! I guess im special, I now own a tobacco free Shining Force III that will not load on its own and I guess this makes it RARE :-D #5 "Good luck and happy bidding" This one about says it all, I have better luck in Vagas. :smt022 End of rant :angry
