I recently got a second hand JPN super famicom cartridge of Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension.

When I play it on my US SNES, a lot of the background music has odd volume "pulses" that are not supposed to exist (a friend had this game 10 years ago and we'd play it on his snes, and the music matched the way that it sounds in the emulated rom, with no volume pulses). Basically, it sounds like someone has their hand on a volume dial on the stereo and is regularly turning that dial from on to off, so the music lessens and increases in volume in a gradient on regular ~1 second intervals.

As I was writing this post to seek help in the repair forum, I just listened to the music on youtube in my headphones and realized that a lot of the music regularly has hard panning from the left to the right channel - it seems that one of the speakers in my stereo is currently dysfunctional and not playing sound. Problem solved but wanted to post this for entertainment value. :) Definitely a facepalm moment.
