Seriously....? I just found out that the Xbox Originals Titles being offered wouldn't have any sort of additions. I mean does anyone think it would be that hard to add achievements? I definitely would've bought Psychonauts a second time it achievements had been included.
I think if it was easily implemented they would`ve done so as it would surely have given gamers an added incentive to play or replay the XBOX originals. I`m sure someone crunched the numbers and thought it wasn`t worth the hassle.
I dare say they did that because they didn't want to update them and just get them on the marketplace. I'm guessing part of it is having to rewrite parts of the game just so a achievement can be unlocked at a certain point, since they are pretty much ports of the BC games loaded off the hard drive and not made from the ground up like XBL Arcade games
Very difficult...on a scale of 1 to 10, about an 8.5 ...Bear in mind the originals on offer are merely running via an emu, where as adding achievments means working on the source code, which means money, time, more money and loads more time.
I really dont seem to understand this achievements thing. Why do people care so much? Like my friend keeps bugging me to go get all the achievements on halo 3. Its just a number its not we even get anything for it? Or do we?
Its something to do, personally. I could care less about the number of points, but getting it is the fun part. Halo 3 is sort of a sucky game for achievements, although The Orange Box and Dead Rising are helped greatly by having them.
If you get all the achievements in Halo 3 you get that uber cool Katana! It's totally worth it! Anyways, I'm totally addicted to achievements. Achieve360Points.com has the games rated from easiest to hardest, achievements wise. I'm starting to buy games based on how easier their achievements are, not on the quality of the game. Personally achievements have totally changed how I play games. I no longer want to play anything but my 360 because I don't "get anything" for playing games on other consoles. I know it's terrible. It's an addiction. GG M$.
It's when people buy games just for the achievement points that it gets a bit weird. I guess that is exactly the reason MS created them though.
It does help in the long run when you are buying multiplatform games. Typically, I buy the 360 version unless there is something very wrong with that version (Which is extremely rare, since the PS3 tends to get screwed the majority of the time). I mean, what would you rather have: A copy of the Orange Box that has awesome achievements and plays extremely well, or a slow version with issues and no achievements (AKA: The PS3 version).
They had a thing once, you got a free game or arcade game if you got 1k in a month. I think it's going to start again too. I think there cool if they make sense in the game, because they give you a reason to actually beat that hard mode, or get all the items, etc.
Yeah, that's what they do. They make me play the game and really complete the game to its fullest. Where before I would play through once. For example, God of War. After you beat the game there's more to do. Unlockables and abilites etc. But to me there isn't any point. What do I have to show for it? Look, I've spent this many more hours playing this game that I've already finished. With Achievements I can play through a game and say, "YES! I got 150g! That totally boosts my gamerscore! Awesome!" :icon_bigg
Well Achievements are a great thing in my opinion. They are fun and a new way to be "forced" to complete certain games that you would just drop otherwise. But what you said is true. When I was at Walmart I almost purchased Prey (Which I played at a friends and didnt like at all) for $20 just so I could get achievements. I dont know what I was thinking. I dunno, now that I think about it, I wish the Wii had achievements too... they are pretty addicting. :crying: EDIT: Oh, and since I was pretty much going offtopic, I came back to edit my mistake. I think that including Achievements in the new Xbox Originals Downloads would have been amazingly awesome, but I understand that its a lot of work and probably not worth it in the long run.
I've got around 800/1000 in Halo 3, but I want to get all 1000 to unlock the Security armor. Don't really want the Katana though. I think it looks cheesy. As for my other games, I don't really care about achievements. If you could buy things with them or whatever, I'd like them more.
