http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/03/04/news_6119713.html Bah, more crap from the U.S. lawmakers who try to find scapegoats in sensitive areas in hopes to be re-elected. Also, the hellhole of the U.S. (Arkansas) is also jumping on the bandwagon with fineing retailers for selling M rated games to minors. Lord...Why can't people take responsibility for their own damn actions and not blame a scapegoat...This just makes it easier for american whackos to sue game companies over the shittiest of things.
To reply Mr.casual's quote: this is stupidiest thing i ever heard. don't they know kids can step backward and look up?don't they know kids, for the most of times, don't buy games by themselves? don't they know the majority of american parents height more than 5 feet? don't they know that if they don't, they can step backward and look up? ...seriously. as for the other one, if a parent can't look on the rating they put on the front of the box before buying a mature game for their kids, then the publisher can't be sued god dammit, it's not their fault if parents don't read!
Yup, its absurd - although you might upset some board members with your unpatriotic views Could someone tell me the actual age limit for M rated games? Is it 5? Because surely, by the time you're 5, you are 4 foot tall with at least a foot reach above your head! I can just see the conversation now! Store manager: Why the hell did you sell that toddler the game?!?! It is M rated!!! Salesperson: But he reached it himself! It was 5 foot off the ground! Hmm, yeah! You know, in the UK, you have to be 18 to buy alcohol. And you have to show ID, or the store owner has the right to ask for ID. Obviously we have a stupid system, and should just put alcohol at 5 foot off the ground! ...oh wait... but most alchohol usually IS at least 5 foot off the ground. Hmm....
It dosen't matter. All of these laws get overturned on First Amendment grounds anyways. I really wish one of these cases would make it to the Supreme Court so this matter would be settled once and for all.
Sorry to go O/T, but did you see that wimp of a British journalist Martin Bashir in the Michael Jackson case? Using the different laws to his advantage and not answering anything so as not to damage his credibility as a journalist. What a wimp. He should know journalists have no credibility! Also, from the pics I've seen of him at the trial, doesn't Michael Jackson look odd now? Anyway, sorry to drag O/T
You know how I mentioned the First Amendment above. Well screw that. It apparently seems to be on hiatus. http://aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=19562
God damn, thats the biggest pile of Bullshit I ever read. I sure hope the swat teams don't bust in my room for writing sci-fi Fantasy strories and Illustrating pictures of monsters. I wopuldnt be Surprised if America made it Illegal to read night of thousand tales or watch Aladdin. Oh, and did you know his GRANDPARENTS turned him in? Thats it you old fucks! No health-care for you, and lets make sure your new "home" is with Michael Jackson!!! I would sure hate to live in Kenfucky, anyway. But im also ashamed that that 5 foot gaming level was created in Arkansas, by some senator guy. God, I thought he should show how smart we really are, but hes just making it worse, with his dumbassity.
