Only people in the UK are going to know who this man is, but he is now dead at 59, although he did a lot to turn weekend evening TV to brainless mush he also did raise a lot of money for charity. Still not sure what Yahoo are trying to imply in the line at the bottom, although made me chuckle.
Man, that's a shame. Yeah, people would call him alsorts for his prank shows but I bet there's not one British person here who never laughed at it. I remember the familly around the TV on a Saturday night watching ITV waiting for Game For A Laugh to start and after that ended we had Beadles About. People may call it mush but it's a million times better than the "Big Brother" shite we have now. That really is a shame, R.I.P. Yakumo
Was an all round nice bloke He will be missed As Yakumo say`s a lot of thought went into these shows to set people up Big brother and these other reality shows.........SHITE.........
I was young/not interested when he was on tv but i thought he was alot more famous then it seems. The news was reported and no one seemed to be too sad unlike some others who have passed away lately.
Yeah I heard about this early yesterday and it was a sad lost indeed. I remember him most for when he hosted you've been framed back in the day
He was a media pioneer and directly responsible for bringing about the massive interest in prank TV and showing clips of funny video footage sent in by the general public. In a strange way he kick started an industry that has led to the likes of Jackass, YouTube, Police, Camera Action & Viral Video. Amazingly he saw the potential in simple incidents being of great interest to people. On the down side this did invariably lead to a dumbing down of Saturday television and the rise of reality TV shows. However, Beadle actually placed a massive amount of effort in the original television series "Beadle's about", something few have surpassed. A lot of prank TV series now omit the acting & dialogue in favor of special effects, however I personally felt that the additional suggestions & phrases thrown in by the actors really made the incidents fantastic viewing. This is a classic example and I remember watching it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0q9gD1lYBk He was a pretty irritating presenter, but did a massive amount of charity work when he finally quit Television.
Yeah i too remember him most for being in youve been framed, i think it was best when he hosted it aswell, its never been the same since he left. Its a real shame hes no more, he was quite a guy.
I heard this on the news this morning, it was quite a shock. True, some of his shows were rather budget, but as has been said, they were a lot better than the dross on TV now. I thought his You've Been Framed was much better - partly because you had genuine videos as opposed to idiots falling over to make a fast buck, but also because you didn't have to put up with that bald idiot who calls himself a comedian despite being totally unfunny - Harry Hill. Yup, he was a decent guy all around, and it is sad that he died so young. Oh, and don't forget that his image was used to sell one of the first range of budget DVDs in the UK ;-)
yeah it really doesn`t seem like massive news, It`s very sad, he really did entertain the nation late 80`s early 90`s.
Yeah, that's true. Jeremy Beadle did always look the same. Quite odd now that you mention it. The again my dad is now 62 and still looks like he did when he was in his 40's. apart from being a bit fatter. Yakumo
