    I see your point.

But I think many things said were unjust because of only being based on 1 or 2 peoples story and that's it. No proof of anything for a lack of a better word.

Maybe he has come back just to sell with ready-made audience, but then I think it's not right to speak ill of him or something when he's not here, but then don't when he is.

Not to be funny but I knew EVERYTHING he answered in his posts apart from his personal opinions on certain Sega Staff but that's because they were his opinions and I'd never met them. I'm no Sega insider either which makes the answers given a little lacking. Maybe I can ask a question that only a Sega insider would probably know.

Also, for an ex-Sega employee he doesn't know jack about how the consoles boot discs. For a Saturn, you don't need any boot disc, you don't need any mod chip. All you need is a disc swap. Even if your boot disc (original game) won't boot the CDR you can always try another. But as it is 99% of the time any original will boot a CDR. I've only ever had issues with VF2 and Batman Arcade not booting a CDR. Even a magazine cover disc will boot a CDR on a Saturn. Then, if it's a region problem there are programs on the net that will convert any Saturn image 100% correctly in to any region or even region free.

I'd love to be wrong about DonnyK but after the Geist Force palaver (which LeGIt never got his money back from) I have my doubts. Also why would a Sega insider not know he had an unreleased game? Every Saturn fan knows this game wasn't released.

I'd never use a disc swap, but hey that's me.

Just like doubt over ASSEMbler/LeGIt story for Geist Force, but it didn't result in bad feeling/comments towards them, so why DonnyK?

I think he didn't do anything wrong.

I think LeGIt shoud of got money back from package insurance because it was badly packed by them (and stepped on) so we are told, but for nothing else.

Yakumo, like Druid II said maybe he had other things in his life. It's certainly not impossible. The fact that we're a bunch of people here that love this kind of thing and keep track about everything SEGA related doesn't mean that everyone has to. And besides, I was under the impression that he worked only little on the Saturn, his real job was with the Dreamcast.
What the hell happened with the Geist Force disc anyway that has you guys so worked up?

Shit, that sucks. That Geist Force prototype I saw a few months hasn't been released right? Was it from the same disc?

DonnyK's disc arrived damaged beyond repair so LeGIt lost a fair amount of money, which sucks big time...

One positive thing from the ordeal was the fact another copy surfaced and is now being used for a release. I believe all copies, of the initial run at least, have been allocated however.

Don't confuse being a Sega employee with being a Saturn fan. Why would I know or care what random third party games were released or not? I worked in the first party development group. I didn't work in the burning lab. They gave me a black disc and a red boot disc and that's how I booted pre-production games... period. I didn't care and never worked on the technical side and never said I did. Once I left the company I stopped caring. But I know I have rare items that other people care about and that's why I'm here.

Not to be funny, but I don't care if you believe me that I worked there or not. I've sold all kinds of unique and rare items that could only be had by an employee and each one of them shipped with an old business card of mine.

As for the Geist thing, I've read the other threads about the newer disc and it seems it wasn't so easy to pull the data off... so maybe my disc wasn't as unreadable as some may think. LeGit and I are in communication together and if you don't know the situation then I would advise not commenting on it.

I come here now and have before because I have things that I collected over the years that people here have used, would like to see, or know about. I don't have to be here, but Assember asked me personally to start that thread and I did. I was fine to lurk in the shadows but wanted to give back to the community. If you believe me, fine. If you don't... I really don't care.

After all, Sonic Xtreme was only released to the wild because of me. If releasing that disc doesn't make me an "insider" I have no clue what would.

Now back to the real issue at hand here before the derail. Druid, you tell me what I can do to pull .avi files off of it. I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff. I'm mostly a console player so anything PC is alien to me. Putting the disc in my PC gives me the following files:

    WWSEGA.DSK 301,615KB
    WWSEGA.PVD 42KB
    WWSEGA.RTI 8KB
    WWSEGA.SCR 5KB
    WWSEGA.TOC 1KB

I'm not sure what programs I need to open these, looks like the .dsk file is the main one. Again, this booted before but I had a work Saturn that was fitted by Sega of Japan for both US/JPN games. This one is a US only with the round buttons, my previous one was the unit with the oval buttons.

Edit: I just remembered that the guys who *did* used to run the burning lab at Sega are on my facebook friends list... all three of them so I'll give them a shout out about it too.

But how do we know that? :(

The picture that DonnyK posted I think shown the disc was not in best condition (many scratches). He himself could not get it to work, but that was one of the risks, if it worked or not.

Nobody said anything was wrong in the beginning, I think we went from disc arrived, no mention of problems then disc might need cleaning, need advice, to disc arrived, not packed properly, disc has been stood on, disc broke, disc has been scratched more due to moving around in case, yet how this is claimed to be I don't know because it had many scratches already. Oh, and who stood on it?

DonnyK's disc arrived damaged beyond repair, yet nobody got it to work at any stage anyway, so how does that work?

How can people claim something like that, when it was not seen working in the first place?

I think all of this stuff created negativity towards him, yet none of it was backed up, or shown to be an accurate account of things, so it is unjust to me until shown otherwise.

I hope he has better look with this game (if he decides to sell it).

Prior to you reappearing here the general consensus among 99.9% of all Assembler games forum members was that you sold a disc for a lot of money, packed it badly rendering it completely unreadable, and then disappeared without a trace - ignoring Legit's private messages, etc... That was the last WE heard about it.

You know it might have been A LOT wiser if you (or Assembler, or Legit) had first told the rest of the forum it had all been sorted and then started this discussion about Waterworld for the Saturn. Suddenly popping up like this has just stirred emotions and pitched otherwise friendly users against each other.

Chill folks - and, erm... there's a common sense distributor just left of the McDonalds, you might want to try it sometime.

Do developers become completely oblivious to piracy methods then? I mean alot of people and not even members of scenes or websites like this know on some consoles you can do disk swaps and play copies.

Why would you ever need to learn how to hotwire a car if the manufacturer gave you a personal set of keys?

For kicks. It's all I need for 99% of what I do that has no practical value to it such as a Tesla coil.

Also it is quite useful if you lose your keys but have no trouble getting inside the car. Probably a few developers out there who found it cheaper to buy consoles+modchips than official dev hardware. At least when it came to the testing phase, not nearly as useful for debugging when debugging tools won't run.
