http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=7662472 VictorMaxx Virtual Realilty Headset i have never seen one of these before. im guessing its a bigscreen emulator type thing? i had the high bid on it for the past 4 days but i got out bid by at least $10 a few moments ago. Would this be worth buying as a collectors item? keep in mind goodwill usually charges $20 for shipping. MERGINATOR: the auction ends in 12 hrs. i hope one of you guys are able to swoop up on this if its a good deal.
oh? good then, I'm glad someone outbid me. i was thinking though. what if i mounted a camera atop my head and wore this. then it would be like my every day life is a first person shooter. "Bloody Screen, So REAL!"
''Haha, you will not be able to catch me unless the game goes into a slow motion mode (goes into slow mo) OOOOOOH DAAAAAAMNNN''
HAAAA HA HAH A HA!!! So awesome! i would wear that in public with a power glove and that weird vibrating backpack.
Now, if it was a Forte VFX1, then I'd say go for it. Even if the screens are dead you end up with a nice AKG headset Plus, the old VFX1 can apparently be used with the drivers from the newer edition (which is used in medical research and for CAD programs and has a far better resolution), therefore enhancing its capabilities - if your PC still has the ISA slot for the interface card and a feature connector on the GFX board that is The helmet itself was great though, adjustable optics for both eyes, working headtracking without an external receiver (60° up/down afaik, and 360° sideways for all you owls out there), but expensive as hell when it came out - it cost more than my complete pc at that time! Edit: just read about its successor, the VFX3D. That one sounds Schweeeeet! I'd really like one of those, even today!
Where did you find that information, what newer driver can be used? After 15 years of waiting I've got a VFX1 headgears last week and tried it with an old PC I've built for those purposes (PII 233, SoundBlaster AWE32, ELSA Winner 1000 with VESA Feature Connector, DOS 7.10, Windows 95C and Windows 98 SE). What should I say, it rocks! Duke Nukem 3D like I never played it before Next thing I'll try is to hook it up to the Aura Interactor for even more VR feeling Back to my initial question, the newest driver I've found is 2.16, dated 10/8/98. And unfortunately it doesn't work with all of the games that should support it natively. There even is a website (sort of) filled with drivers and patches: http://www.tankraider.com/VR/VFX1/ - but everything is still trial & error. Any help here is highly appreciated. My goal is to set up a machine that runs all of the supported games listed here: http://www.mindflux.com.au/products/iis/vfx1soft.html (It even lists "Duke Nukem Forever" :evil
