Wait! Is it legit to HACK consoles?

 

If it not legit if you are reverse engineering, and could get into issues with copyright as such. If however your hacks are to do with things like tapping off RGB output from existing connectors not normally used, making a board smaller, incorporating a screen and controller into a system, using external components to marry to the original hardware or changing the casing, then there is nothing wrong with that, nor anything to get into trouble with either. A lot of modding is to do with improving a system without infringing copyright of it, therefore "legit".
