Downloading it right now. I'll test a few games and see how they do. EDIT: Just tried a few. Good and bad news. First up was FFXII. Main thing I noticed is that the fullscreen option isn't true fullscreen, much like how the 360 does upscaling. Second, it does support 720p and 1080i as well as 1080p. Third, I didn't see any ghosting or as many jaggies as I did at 480p. However, it does have weird vertical tearing issues, but this was the only game I saw it in. Second was MGS3. 1080i support really helped it, since it looked far better then the 480p support it was getting. I saw pretty much no jaggies and everything looked and played smooth. One bad thing I need to mention is this: I had music issues when I booted to PS2 games. On many of the load-ups, it had scrambled music. However, the home screen of the PS3 had no music issues. I do not know if it was because I had a HDMI cable, but it is a issue either way.
I've got both. Now if only there were a good reason for me to turn on the PS3 and download yet another system update...you know, like play a game that wasn't a pile of crap.
I've got both too (TV is even a Sony). I'm more curious to see how it upscales DVD's, but I might throw a Time Crisis in to see how it looks.
I'll be honest I'm really disappointed with the upscaling so far in my testing. Things are better but overall still look like crap on HD.
I don't have a PS3, but I do have an upscaling DVD player, and boy does it look good. The only issue is that my TV doesn't support 720p @ 50Hz, so to play PAL DVDs I have to use 576p . Does the PS3 have a built in scaling chip, or is it by the Cell or RSX?
