Ain't got no internet at campus! You'd be surprised how much my social life and free time have increased ;-)

Actually I've not got it in my room atm, the bastards have actually started adhering to their "500mb per day" limit (they never did when I was in first year), and I've been banned again. 5th time now too...

The firewalls are pretty damn oppressive in my uni and the campus villages. You've got like port 80... and that's about all. OK, you can use stuff like MSN Messenger, but besides that pretty much everything is blocked! Fortunately you can still do file sharing within the UL network - there's loads of shit on it, and some students are even serving search engines for MP3s and stuff! And you can still play LAN games too ^_^. But if you want to use the internet connection in your room you have to pay like €150 a year!

I live at home though, so nothing can stop me! Except for the crappy 128k upload rate...

150 euros a year sounds pretty normal, the local monopolist charges 15 a month - but the speed/price ratio compared to ADSL at home is still way better.

Hmm. I get it for "free" (it'll be part of my fees, presumably) in my room. The firewall is tough, I've tried http tunneling to no avail, but that's probably due to my inexperience more than anything else. The servers are linux-based, and pretty much all ports are locked down, so we can't see each other's computers or do anything much more than standard http stuff. I can still use Hotline, though - check out jhl.
