Anyone got ANY idea where this airport is? It looks like somewhere in South America to me. If ever commercial airpilots have a job on their hands this is one airport they must shit themselves over... http://www.metacafe.com/watch/746851/what_a_pilot/
That reminds me. One time I was flying from Dominicana to Germany (Frankfurt) and something happened to one of the wings (there was smoke coming from it ) so we had to land on... Bermudas. We had to land on a military airport, which had a very short lane. The pilot was really scared when he was about to land (when he was speaking to the microphone). We started breaking in air (like you usually do on land), thankfully we landed safely. We had to sit tightly for 2-3 hours and couldn't move because they were fixing things. Of course, officially there was no word of any trouble. They put up a theater of a guy with epilepsy supposedly having an attack and that we had to land because of that. Most of the people thankfully bought that story, otherwise we'd have had a lot of unnessesary panic. The story wasn't very plausible (especially if you were sitting next to the smoking wing ), why would they wait for 3 hours if the patient stayed on Bermudas anyway and why were there so many paramedics, police, and why was the pilot scared What was really funny about it all is that we had to land on Bermudas which were about 1 hour away when we were like 10 minutes away from Florida. I'm guessing there would be trouble with immigration and stuff (Bermudas are English territory), but come on...
That sucks sitting on a plane for hours that IS NOT MOVING! I hate plane rides because I just can't sit still for more than 3-4hours. Longest I ever flew was 2-3hours. I would like to travel around the world but I have to find a way to stand flights that are over 10hours long lol.
narrow it down a bit by checking AA`s route map But F me...been oin a few planes around the world in my time, but I think I would only do this once!!
That's amazing! Last night I had a dream I was on an airplane where the pilot had to make a near impossible takeoff (without hitting the very tip of a skyscraper) & landing (on a small ass runway). To my surprise, I wake up and find this thread. The worst experience I've had on an airplane was a near collision incident on a flight from Colorado to Minnesota, in the US. While we were landing there was a plane already taking-off on the same runway, so we had to ascend and avert it.
I used to fly a lot. I hated going from Europe to any of the Americas and back... Usually it was 9+ hours of sitting and doing nothing. Thank fuck for handhelds! Still, my dad going to HK from London (I think it was 16h) beats me. Sixteen hours...
That video reminds me of Xania airport in Crete. Olypmic pilots had to nose dive to land from the sea. Scariest flights I have ever been on!
