To tell you the truth, it was probably from Napster back in the day. What is was I'm not sure.
Oh god... LimeWire and WinMX? I remember trying to use KaZaa but I couldn't get it to work. I was in middle school. I also got things from websites. Things got much better when I discovered BitTorrent and DC++ a few years later And then Soulseek. The first CDs I ripped? MusicMatch Jukebox. It almost always messed up the MP3 if there were scratches on the disc.
It was from gnutella.com probably a song by Blink 182. I only got like 12 tracks before napster got shut down... 10-11 years ago
I think I probably downloaded my first music in 2000 on a free 56k connection using BearShare or some Gnutella thing. I was far too skint to pay for dial up back then lol. The first tune was probably something like Finer by Nightmares on Wax, which was pretty stupid as I know his cousin & can get his tunes free from him!
Chic - Good Times, off Audiogalaxy via my then 'free' 56k service that came with the phone and cable TV package (via CableTel, later NTL, and now Virgin Media). The connection used to reset after 2 hours, so you'd have to re-dial. I think I installed Napster about a week before it turned subscription only OH: Still use Soulseek every now and then.
Audiogalaxy was great, found so much new music through that site, it gave some really good suggestions of other stuff you may like.
true, audiogalaxy was great. but it is cool to know that you can download something today in seconds for what you needed weeks or even months back then.
Probably Depeche Mode. It was either through DCC or (more likely) FTP from a site I got off of IRC. Someone gave me a CD full of them though and explained what they were.
lol good times, when I was like 9 or 10 around 1999 or 1998 my sister installed napster and she taught me how to use it and download music with it. I downloaded that im blue song. good times. At the time we had the latest modem aviable in costa rica 56kbs dialup lol
hmm... don't really remember... probably something off the old mp3.com when i was like 15 or something. i was only able to access the internet at school, so i think one of the earliest mp3s i downloaded was "Valley of the Damned" by Dragonforce in one of my keyboarding classes. anything before that i can't really recall.
