This is intended as a small experiment on my side, to see if people who often read other people's posts ever notice who wrote the post. If they actually form a view about that person and more importantly their level of knowledge.

Obviously this could get off topic or ugly easily so try and state what users come to your mind and what you perceive them to be good at.

This is also a good "directory" for when looking for specific advice via PM on some speciality matters.

Don't be shy and don't be mean either!

    ;-)

    What about other users?

    e.g

GaijinPunch has clearly a lot of know around shmups and everything arcade.

Calpis is always spot on on his low level/hardware stuff, really impressive.

I could go on but I want to see what you guys think. I personally have a lot of favourites depending on the topic but I ll wait for some more views =D

GP -> shmups? He seems more like a dominant master of debauchery, auxiliary master of obscure elitist imports :p

Nobody knows it but I do more than circuit babel, I'm pretty good at drawing/creative stuff and double entendre (definitely N/A here though...)

Well, I know Barc0de, kammedo, Calpis, marshallh, shiggsy (and I might be forgetting someone else) know their way around Nintendo soft & hard, mostly N64.

Parris is an XBOX guru, as well as being really good at restoring arcade cabs.

Tatsujin = PCEngine & vodka martini, 'nuff said.

Borman, karsten, alecjahn, all great at photography.

ASSEMbler, hmm what could I say? A great videogame historian and collector.

Jamtex is teh world's mahjong living database.

    Yakumo and ave, both Saturn-o-philics.

Tmee knows his way inside-out on Genny and MD hard/soft.

    Bacteria, the modding expert.

I can't say anything about z_killemall and K-Panggg cause I know them personally. I'll leave that for someone else :p

And I can't think much more right know cause I'm still with a fuckin fever :-(

Well to be serious , then I am pretty good at going berserk. But even more seriously I am pretty good at finding sites that has something to do with either abandonware or game music. And I try to help people with that too.

In my case I'm good at a couple of things, programming (both low level and high level) and old computer hardware (The Pentium will always have a special place in my collection). On the human side I'm good at writing, in both english and spanish.

    WDK: king of ruining threads.

When hl718 or Calpis/kyuusaku hold forth I tend to take it as gospel. They just know their shit, and there can be no argument.
    Tmee for Genny stuff.
Japan-games for finding ridiculously obscure and ancient hardware as-new.
drx for dumping anything and everything.
Anthaemia for verbosity. Why spend 50 words talking about Saturn-era Sega when you could stretch it to over 1000? I'm taking the piss a little, but he's a walking library, even if he does let his imagination get the better sometimes.
    GP for anything Cave.
Yakumo - the guy may not be a hardware guru or whatever but he's paid his dues and is a decent seller. Knows Sega too, even if he does exhibit outrageous bias toward them at times.
Paulo for the most tireless moderator ever.
    Dot50Cal for anything Resident Evil.
    subbie for hardcore PSP dev.
    oldengineer for anything Xbox.
Antipasta - knowledgeable coder and best avatar ever.
    Shiggsy for anything Nintendo dev-related.
Then you've got the hardcore collectors - DreamTR, TheRedEye, buyatari, Assembler etc.

EDIT: and what is it with people misreading the first post? It's pretty obvious it's not a "let's talk about how great I am" thread, nor a forum joke talk-about-the-person-before-you thread.

Yeah, I wouldn't feel comfortable talking about other people, but I guess that's the point. Unfortunately for me, the best I can say about most people that I know something about, is "They seem to be an awesome person, and know their stuff in some general direction that is related in some way to video games."

As for me: I drop-kick kittens, puppies, and teddy bear hamsters for a living.
