what are the current arxade platforms?

    Need some help for an It assignment, my knowledge is years old (Naomi) etc so can any of the gurus here help?

    Check system16. Click on the companies and you'll find a list of their systems in chronologic order, the newest ones being on the bottom.

    There hasn't really been much going on since the Type X2 and Lindbergh I'd say. Most newer systems are just PC-based or unique hardware, although you could already call the Type X2 PC-based.

    Lindbergh,Ring-whatever and TypeX both are nothing more than PCs with security modules and JVS controller.
    The only non-PC current hardware is CV1000x, but AFAIK Cave moved to PC-based too.

    I think it will remain this way - it's way easier to use PC hardware as it will be a lot cheaper and easier to develop since it will be using common OS like windows or linux. Sometimes it will be current console hardware.

    Thanks for the help guys, i understood a lot now runs on modded PC hardware but thanks for elaborating on it. And the website Ave gave is fantastic.
