just wondering, because to me it'd be pretty amazing if someone couldn't figure out a way to softmod a 3ds. flashcarts shouldn't be the only way to run homebrew apps, no?
I think it'll happen eventually. You're right that theoretically it shouldn't require a flash cart, considering it has an SD card slot. It's possible to put games on the SD card slot, so I should imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to reverse-engineer some of that software to allow other software to be loaded.
I dunno if the access time of the SD its the same as the Game Card. The one on DSi its pretty slow. But maybe its software limitations
looks promising, but why the white stuff on the adapter? And why is nintendo again hacked and are games running? Anyway, we can also try to completely alter the firmware like the older NDS.
Like I said, you can download games (from the 3DS Store) onto the SD card, so there must not be much of a difference.
Does games from the Nintendo eStore have load screens? Mainly all games are just classic 8-bit games, not much loading would need to be done. However a full 3DScart on an SD card might be a bit sluggish. Softmod, sure it's possible. DSi got exploited with Sudoku didn't it? I know that's DSi and not 3DS but there might be another loophole. Maybe with letterbox application much like Mailbomb
Just an FYI but there are demos to full on 3DS games on the eShop. Along with smaller downloadable games. The Monster Hunter 3G demo is freaking massive. =S
I downloaded a demo of the new Resident Evil: Revelations off of the eShop. I believe it's the full game with a time limit. And yes, there is loading. The game looks good, but it makes poor use of the 3D. Everything in front of you is on a flat plane slightly beyond the screen and your character is raised slightly above that. It's not real 3D.
What does make you think it's the whole game? It stops at a certain point, there's no time limit. And apart from that, if you change the settings of the game you can adjust the 3D level. It looked deep and impressive to me, at least.
I'm not sure why I thought it was the full game. I haven't played it much. You're right, it does look fine when you adjust the settings. With the default setting it looks very flat. Why did they put that option in the menu when every other 3DS game uses the 3D slider for that?
Probably some parents stuff control bulls**t for kids less than 7 years. But still that would disable the 3d on the whole system..Who know what Crapcom is doing nowadays anyway.
I think the max depth is dependant on software. Zelda's 3d on the slider goes way above mario's max 3d. Turn on enhanced depth mode in mario though, and its similar.
Just tried a few commercial roms on my sudokuhaxed DSi XL, they wouldn't run. Got no idea why I haven't tried that before. I don't have any pure DSi roms to try with, maybe they would work better, I doubt that the DSi will fall back to DS mode when launching a DS rom through an exploit in a DSi mode game. There's this dump of a testing cart for the original DS though, the cart in question was manufactured long before the DSi even was on the drawing table. It boots just fine in DSi mode. It runs way faster that it's intended to, and I can't get past the touch screen testing, probably due to some differences in how touch screen input is handled between DS mode and DSi mode. But it still runs, quite curious in my opinion :> Homebrew works perfectly too. If it requires read/write access to a storage device (read: DSi internal SD slot if running via Sudokuhax), it needs to be compiled with the latest few versions of libnds though.
