Hmm, I can't believe I forgot the most cheaty soundtrack ever - the Guitar Hero series! All very listenable - great to rock out to in the car!!
I'd also love to get that NiGHTS set plus a complete soundtrack for Clockwork Knight (both games, if possible) and just not the officially released version that had a few songs on it - if there's anyone prepared to make up such a disc then you know where I'll be waiting...
What, and GTA does?!?! It's just radio stations with mostly commercial music! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guitar-Hero...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1231735746&sr=1-1 It's actually available as a soundtrack CD ;-) I know it's a big cheat, but then again, so are GTA and some other games, too! Umm, like Crazy Taxi, Gran Turismo, Donkey Konga, Rock Band..... By make up, you mean pirate, right?
Mine would be a long list but I think most are just the ones I have fond memories of. I guess it's part of my childhood. Here's some I think are underrated: -Final Fantasy Adventure (or Mystic Quest in Europe) --> Kenji Ito is one of my favorite composers and this is one of his best works IMHO, the Gba remake sword of mana is... meh... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQd2RRn3xT4&feature=PlayList&p=7BBE611829D791B7&index=0&playnext=1 Seriously, I get shivers down my spine everytime. -Batman (Genesis) --> I don't know who the composer is off the top of my head, but this is just plain marvel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te5cSAuOYIk -Fatal Fury (Genesis) --> I'm not including Street Fighter because it's not exactly underrated . But I am including this great arcade conversion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWzrzajxv8w I remember playing this and turning up the volume everytime I had to fight Geese :020:
AntiPasta, here is the NiGHTS Perfect Album. Fantastic. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-8l-77-d-49-en-15-nights-70-2l5u.html Dear now, I got it for £25, it's now £37! Baku Baku's soundtrack is strangely addictive, I agree, and I didn't even know there was a Sega Rally OST! That music is awesome! Alchy, I LOVE Fear on Rez- but on the soundtrack it's a totally different version. Only the game rip of this track will suffice. I have a complete game rip, too =)
I was rather disappointed with the OST, yeah. In fact I find it curious that so many game soundtrack releases feel they need to tart the content up or "remix" it. I have no inherent objection with remixes, but let's get a proper, definitive OST out first, eh?
Yeah, very much agreed. We buy the soundtrack to hear what we heard and loved in the game, not different version!
Phantasy Star 4 Fallout 3 Silent Hill 2 Sonic 2 (and all of the SFX as well!) Ocarina of Time A lot of the sountracks that i really like come from RPG's, which is strange as i don't actually play them that often..
I used to use a cassette deck to record the game soundtrack straight from the game consoles !!!!! That was until I heard in Japan they regularly sold game soundtrack albums ! I had to get me some. So i'd venture out to Little Tokyo ( Downtown L.A. ) to a Japanese business called Asahiya Bookstores. There i'd place special orders on CDs or Famitsu mags I wanted. I'm cheap on shipping so it wasn't a big deal waiting 1 - 2 weeks for delivery. Nowadays I own a TON but here are some of my faves: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yuzo Koshiro collections Anything Ridge Racer Anything Ys Anything Tekken Strider/Dynasty Wars Anything Final Fantasy Dragon Saber - Namco Sound Museum #4 Capcom GSM 4: Street Fighter II - Alph Lyra Virtua Fighter - B-UNIV Virtua Fighter 2 Daytona USA - B-UNIV - catchy tunes -- the vocals are so bad its good! Front Mission OST Gradius Perfect Selections Dracula Perfect Selections Fatal Fury Special - Neo Sound Orchestra Art of Fighting - Neo Sound Orchestra Starfox - OST Alpine Racer - Namco Sound Museum #25 Super Contra ( Arcade ) Soooo many to list...But... Honorable mention ------------------ My imported copy of the Donkey Kong Country soundtrack signed by Nintendo Treehouse members who tested DKC and some RARE crew responisible for the actual DKC development: I ordered the MK soundtrack CD from Williams and later-on I had the creators and cast sign the booklet at a trade show:
I'm very jealous.. and I'm sure a certain member would be jealous of the DKC soundtrack specifically, too!
