Yet another indie video game console with emulators running Linux underneath? Yaaaawn. It's funny that they claim MS Windows game support through wine though, as wine is far from ideal.
I can guarantee both this and Engenex will be forgotten within less than a year after launch. Ouya though... it has strong backing from hit companies like Sega and Square Enix, so I don't see Ouya going anywhere.
Ouya won't be going anywhere since it never went anywhere in the first place! *ba! dum! tish!* Thank you! I'll be here all week!
All the indi based consoles appearing lately seem to be cash grabs playing off the Ouya. BTW what happened to all the money raised for the Ouya? All they seemed to come up with was a tablet with out a display that connects to a tv..........
What are the main benefits besides that "boot every shit imaginable regardless of architeture" which I suspect is just emulation? Why??? What's the point besides benefitting ebay gougers? I have a theory on why this console might be forgotten soon: maybe because there's a far more capable and versatile machine popularized in the 90's and still used now called the Personal Computer which does everything and more with full freedom for developers? Keep in mind that it's just a theory, though. I also think that the site and trailer is suspiciously amateurish for a game console project. Yeah the roots of gaming!!!!!1!
should be alright as long as it's not one of those projects where even if the funding goal is not met the guy/gal behind it can grab all the money collected so far~
No. You're right about a PC being much more flexible and capable, certainly, but a lot of people want a simplistic machine that requires no user maintenance, and a PC isn't for them. Not that a PC requires much from the user, but it does require more than a console, especially since so many users seem incapable of following the basics steps (and they are basic) that can remove any chance of your PC succumbing to 99.9% of viruses and malware. Some people just should not have a PC.
I don't see any reason at all to get a system like this. I can do all this on my PC plus more. Plus I think once the Steam box comes out, all these indie consoles will go bye bye.
Considering they use stock PC hardware and case, I already own this console. Literally, I own the exact case with comparable hardware inside. Except I built my unit like years and years ago.
