After 7 years, I'm hitting the roads again (hide)! I knew dick about cars 7 years ago, and don't know much more about them now. I know I want an SUV, and I can get one for up to $30k. Give me your pros and cons. I would love the Volkswagen or Lexus rides, but either are too pricey for me now.
well i hate the stupid danish toyota commercial (he looks like the stage over down syndrome)(and i am not talking about the cool south korean guy) so i chose another car and i know dick about cars too
Toyota RAV4 (bit small but still a SUV, very nice looks imho and good money/quality ) Nissan X-trail (big powerfull and not to bad to look at) Basicly buy a japanese or european car, very good quality, hight standard of interior quality and general build quality compared to the average american car (watch a few episodes of top gear to get an impression)
I don't like SUV's that much. I agree with Assembler on the S2000. 2.0 engine with 240hp stock. Imagine it with a Turbo. If you can, try getting a VW Corrado VR6 or a Chevrolet/Opel Calibra :smt045
anyone own one of those korean brand of car's, the KIA ? Just wondered if there any good as my wife seemd to really want a Sportage
You know, I went test driving today. I totally got sucked in by the sales guy, but I think he was right. The Honda Pilot is so far the leader. VERY nice ride. Doesn't look quite as cool on the outside as the 4Runner, but still not bad.
My driving school used a KIA Mentor - and I believe tachikoma owns a KIA Rio. I must say I was quite satisfied with it, but then I got little experience :smt043 There's plenty of KIA Sorento SUV's on the road here.
You should try the kia sorrento if you can find it, it was voted best SUV last year, it comes in only one model namely full options , but it should fit your budget, you'd be getting everything from leather seat down to cruise control, airco and sat-nav.
Yeah, most of the features do nothing for me (except for power windows, power locks, and AC). I *THINK* I'm going to get this Honda Pilot, but will go through the formalities of driving the others. It handled WAY better than the Pathfinder and Xterra. The Volkswagon Toreng (sp?) is also quite dreamy, but a bit out of the price range. While I hear that Korean cars are getting better, they still don't have the mileage that our Japanese friends can provide. A chick I'm tight w/ has an uncle that just sold a 4Runner w/ 495,000 miles on it -- and it ran fine. Also, another friend (diehard gamer... a regular back in my Ebay days) just bought one, and lugged his wife's car from Washington, along w/ his wife, kid, dog, and a guinnea pig in the back.
If you want a smal SUV, then i would suggest the brazilian Ford Ecosport. It's an SUV based on the Ford Fiesta. In Europe they developed the Fusion, someking of minivan. In Brazil, we developed a small SUV.
re Are you back in the states already, GaijinPunch? If you want a nice, economical car (without caring too much about looks), get a Honda Accord. My brother has two of them (a '90 and '92), and aside from transmission problems with his '90 (he shifts really rough), he hasn't had any problems. We also made a trip from Wilson, NC to Norfolk, Virginia on one tank of gas (and halfway back). I myself just got my first car, a '92 Toyota Camry. It seems to drive pretty nice, although I haven't had the chance to drive it yet. My mom is threating to put it in her name and give me the minivan :smt067 .
Yes, I am back in the states... sort of. Nowhere near where I'm from, but oh, well. I plan on taking up surfing, and have always wanted a utility vehicle, hence, the SUV plunge. They get terrible gas mileage, but how else can I get a board to the beach?
Ya I prefered the Sorrento myself. I like how they come loaded and at a good price, but then I hear folks say they are cheap for a reason and not very durable or reliable. My wife and I have only ever owned Fords for no other reason then we just seem to keep getting good deals on them. We want to replace our Explorer with another newer SUV as we try to have one small car (our Tracer) and one large vehicle (the Explorer) when we need the space or power and what not.
We have a Kia Rio, and it's built pretty damn well. We got the budget version, so its a sea of grey plastic inside, but you can't complain about the car. The Sedona is a nice car if you go the extra few £. Quite a lot of people around here (and taxi firms) use the big Kia SUV/People carriers and I have never seen or heard of one getting a bad review.
The KIA brand is getting a whole lot better recently right from the sorrento down to the new picanto. They all come kitted out with everything (i might be dreaming but i think there giving away in car dvd players and screens atm on the larger verhicles). The KIA brand will be a definate choice for me in the future
A pickup truck? :smt045 Anyway, i surf from time to time. And i have a Peugeot 206 :-D All i do is put the surfboard on the roof. :smt030
