Okay. I'm starting a new job soon, and for things involving that, and a few others that are related to it, I'm going to need a cellphone. And honestly, I don't know which to choose. So I'd like to know what kind of phones you guys have, and your experiences and how you liked them. Features and stuff too. I need things like a keyboard on it, I don't mind if it flips or slides, it has to be functional and good, and most of all, it has to be cheap. Not over $100. Now I don't mind just getting a plan on a previous cell phone that I already have, but I'd prefer getting a new one, since that one is a little bit worse for wear. Thanks guys. -GEM- Edit: I also live on the east coast of the US, if that helps any.
Well, currently I'm using the AT&T 8525... but I plan to upgrade to the HTC Touch Pro for $99.99 ( with 2 year contract ) soon. If you want a keyboard based phone...I highly recomend the HTC Touch Pro because it fits your $100 budget, has a 5 row full qwerty keyboard and is one hell of a power beast ( even can run android via HaReT ). Is there any other specifics you are looking for in a phone?
I'd reccomend a Nokia E61 (if you can get them in the US?) qwerty keyboard, nice big screen, quality metal case, quite robust and a mini sd slot. I think the only problems I had with it was the lack of wifi and the OS - symbian 3 - didn't have much software support and the few emulators left a bit to be desired - the SNES one didn't have sound.
If the other LG phones are anything like my LG Shine... avoid, avoid, avoid. Hypersensitive little joystick thing, minimal customization options, annoying sounds you can't change, lame camera functions. All that, and it has a tendency to turn itself off randomly. I think I solved that problem and believe it's inherent to slide phones as the battery gets shaken off it's connectors when you close the phone. I'm going back to a flip phone next.
I'm no brand fanatic, but I found all other phones pale in comparison to Nokias. Apart from maybe the original Ericssons, they were rock solid. The last none Nokia phone I had was a Motorola V3 - terrible, constantly resetting and the 'keys' were horrible.
LG sucks. After one year and the batteries crap out. What sucks for me is that I'm on verizon and I look at neweggs great deals on unlocked cellphones but the nokias, etc. are all shitty GSM. Anything CDMA is expensive.
Are you ok with signing up in a 2 year contract for discounted cellphones? newegg.com has some good deals going on there. Brands i'd stick with are: Samsung, Nokia, and Motorola.
I'd second anything HTC. Their phones are solid and windows mobile really is a good OS with plenty of customization options. I've got a Dash, a Wing, a Shadow, and a G1 sitting on my desk and I like them all!

Samsung Omnia. Not sure if its available for ~100$. In Germany its available for ~100€ with 2Year-Contact.
Last I checked, AT&T offers a refurbished fuze(Touch Pro) for free with a 2 year contract. If you don't mind getting a slightly used phone then that is the way to go. It may also help if we knew what service you currently have and if you are willing to switch carriers.
