what did you guys think of hm franchise im mixed with the series i loved the harvest moon games from 1997-2006 (especilly 64 and a wonderful life) they where so much fun with great gameplay likable cast of characters and there just plain addicting for a farm simulator (except magical melody though i didnt care for that one) as for the recent ones i dont care for them i just dont think they had the same charm as the classics did and the gameplay just lacks compared to the classics the only modern harvest moon game i liked was tale of two towns but hats about it for modern hm games (oh and im noy counting rune factory i have no problem with that series) what do you guys think of the series oh and if your gonna say you hate it please explain why you do?
Loved the SNES release, played #2 for the GBC quite a bit and never could get into the rest as they seemed to lack any real depth or change from one game to another.
Played the crap out of the GBA one, Friends Of Mineral Town I think. Same here, didn't think I would enjoy a 'farming sim' but it had a ridiculous amount of depth to it. Did turn into a bit of a 'level grind' though.
I love them but the older ones from the Snes to the DS. I try to buy most of them but I havent play the Wii ones and I dont like the Rune factory. One that keep the same charm but change the theme is Innocent Life because is futuristic and is good.
not all rune factory games suck play rune facory tides of destiny for ps3 or wii its actualy very good
I liked the older games and have been playing Harvest Moon Tale of Two Towns DS (since I heard the 3DS version is oddly stuttery) and one of the PSP titles (Hero of Leaf Village if I'm recalling correctly?) I haven't played Innocent Life as of yet and I'm looking into getting Rune Factory Tides of Destiny on PS3 at some point. ... Though I am also interested in Harvest Moon 3DS but that's mainly because of what I've heard about the customization features. I like them it's just that it would be nice if some of the mechanics were overhauled a little so it wasn't constantly spamming gifts and the like each in-game day.
oh god that used to piss me off when i played a wounderful life for gamecube counstently having to give gifts to the chars in hope they will like u it got tedious fast
I played the GameCube one a lot and still have my copy. After lots of playing I grew a bit bored of it and eventually stopped playing it. Maybe I'll go back to it one day, I still have my save for it.
The wonderfull life for gamecube is nice but repetitive I got both the boy and girl one to connect them with the GBA ones. But the really good one for GC is the Magical melody also for the Wii that one I love it and my wife too. Wonderfull life is slow but bring something new to the series and that is an ending with a real time past getting old and the kid growing and picking what is going to do.
I'm probably going to pick up a copy of Magical Melody to play at some point as I've not played that one yet and I've heard a few people say it was really good - what sort of features were in it?
I actually fell in love with the one for PSX. I also had a fond respect for A Wonderful Life, but the PS2 release of it had some extra stuff in it. They never had a PS2 release of Another Wonderful Life (the female version, the exact same). Stay clear away from Harvest Moon:Save the Homeland. It was very bad. Not to mention that the main character was some unisex version of the same character that they had in previous games so that they didn't have to focus on having either male or female.
I loved the snes version and I played a lot of back to nature on the Playstation. Haven't really played any since then, but I enjoy the series so I really should.
I like the GBA installments. Never played the console games though. Interesting and therapeutic games. I really enjoyed tending to my farm and livestock each day and grinding my way towards bigger and better things. Gamification elements at their best.
