    Hi all,

I bought this copy of Terranigma off eBay. Having never been released in the US, I figured it was just a repro translation, but opening it up, it looks like a legit snes board and chipset, with something aftermarket soldered on top.

My best guess is that it's a legitimate Japanese Terranigma board that was put in a North American shell with a board attached that somehow has the translation and fonts on it? I don't know. Even the label looks legit, with very light scuffing on it. It looks like just about every other snes cart I own on the outside. I know that repro labels are pretty spot on these days, but what the hell is going on here?

Photos to come shortly. Posting from my phone

It's a repro using an official Snes cart as a donor. How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking :)
It's definitely not a Terranigma PAL board, no one would be crazy enough to use that as a donor.

The CIC you have there is a original NTSC US/JAP, if it was PAL it would start with D13 or something like that and it wouldn't work in a US Snes.

So, the original Mask ROM was desoldered and replaced with an English ROM on the flash chip

It is a repro. See that secondary PCB in the first picture? That's a replacement for whatever mask ROM chip the donor board had before.

    That's an acceptable price.

Ok thanks. I knew the board was a legitimate Nintendo board but I wasn't sure if the donor was a Japanese Terranigma cart.

I was wondering about that. I'd been looking around and some people were trying to get $100 for the repro's, so I figured $40 wasn't bad.

Yeah the price is totally reasonable, little less work to make an NTSC repro, us PAL people need to go the extra step and desolder the CIC as well or use a PAL donor where it gets expensive
